There are some directors who are always needed. In this scene, the unforgettable Stanley Donen has once again shown his mastery. I loved this scene when it was first broadcast in our country, in the mid-80s. Of course, thanks to Billy Joel. For this song he sang with his exquisite jazz tones.

Guys, does anyone know what kind of music this is? I just found Strawberry moon · Grover Washington - Maddie's Blues. But the arrangement in the movie is better. More original like a movie is a Maddie's Blues · Mike Vaccaro · Gerry Schroeder.

I saw Billy Joel play I'm San Antonio this past weekend and when hecplayed "Big Man on Mulberry Street" with Sting, this scene immediately came to mind. After 30 years, it is still a great moment in television history, right up there with "In The Air Tonight" on "Miami Vice" 😎

They should have revisited this with a short series of episodes or something similar, healed some of the hurts done in the last series or two and given it the final happy sunset it always aspired to in it's happy, funny, slightly twisted take on things. There was enough off the wall episodes to allow something like that to come in, clean up some of the mess they made in the last 2 series and leave it on a positive note. Maybe one day someone with some cgi can do it, shame there is health and time issues now, it could have been remarkable. Oh well, we still have the first 3 seasons.

Glen Gordon Caron is a genius, he just got cancelled from the industry recently for on set issues on his last show , the Bull. Moonlighting was a one time event, never seen before or after, genius work

I remember seeing this when it was first shown on TV - I had no idea what the music was, but then I subsequently heard it on Billy Joel's "The Bridge" album and made the connection. Great song and terrific dance sequence, but is this video sped up, or did they actually speed up the song for the TV soundtrack? I thought it sounded a little odd watching this, and when I checked, sure enough It''s in Ab here, a full half-step higher than on the album, which has it in G.

First three seasons of Moonlighting was some of the best TV ever and definitely the best show of the 80's. The last two seasons fell off a cliff. The dialogue in the first two lines of this scene sum it up: Cybill: "I thought it'd be different" (ie. She thought David and Maddie would end up together and that she was sad the show was ending) Bruce: "I didn't think about it (He had zero fucks left to give and wanted the show over) This was his only line in this entire scene. Cybill did the talking.

One of the best 6 minutes of TV of all time. And what it meant for the story of the characters. Directed by the great Stanley Donen who did Singin in the Rain.

As a person who took dance classes for years and performed in numerous shows (and being dance captain for one and assistant DC in another), I'm always stunned by Bruce Willis, non-professional dancer, holding his own with a cast of obvious professionals. Doing lifts, drags, boosts and making it look so effortless.

I just texted the same thing to my cousin! Sandahl Bergman was in Fosse shows on Broadway and in All That Jazz and Bruce totally holds his own next to her - and the fact that he's not AS good is what makes it work, he's ga-ga over her and so very un-Bruce suave yet adorable. They look like they're having so much fun.

I was in my 20’s when Moonlighting came on. All of my friends and I were saying ‘who is this guy’? So funny the studio people couldn’t see what the fans could. Bruce and Cyril were 🔥. Best show of the 80’s. Nothing else comes close. So happy it’s now available to buy on streaming. Can watch these episodes over and over. Perfection!

For years I kept looking for Moonlighting on streaming. It was the one 80’s show I really wanted to watch again. Now it’s on Hulu. It’s even better than I remembered it. They, and the audience, deserved a happier ending.
