Thank you for yet another wonderful video. The same persistent topics as those discussed in 2001 A Space Odyssey (A 1968 movie by the way) are still very much relevant.

Thank you! We’re glad you enjoy the channel. It is fascinating how 2001: A Space Odyssey raises profound questions about how technology can either support or threaten peace.

How comes we still have terrorism ?
@SpaceForHumans
@SpaceForHumans 23 күн бұрын
Satellites like NigeriaSat-2 play an important role in combatting terrorist groups like Boko Haram Or ISWAP by providing real-time imagery for surveillance, tracking movements, and monitoring affected areas. This helps security forces plan operations and protect communities. However, fighting a terrorist organization involves addressing deeply rooted challenges beyond what technology alone can solve. It requires sustained efforts across governance, security, and community resilience. It’s a tough, ongoing fight, but the tools provided by space technology are a very important part.

I remember a phrase from my childhood: "The first satellites were launched for the 1957 geophysical year." This is a great and interesting topic. Thanks for the video. Yes, may be a bit too "contemporary" :) but may be it's just that I am old :)

I preferred Donald Fagen's take on the subject: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5bMp52oaMtrrsk His coolness and scepticism - in the face of the relentless cheesy optimism about "a beautiful world... a glorious time to be free" in the upcoming new scientific dawn for the human race - has stood the test of time much better than its original source. Your own positivity, however charming and entertaining, looks to me equally misplaced.

What about NCOM SAT2 That disappeared from Space? Have they found it back?

As far as we understand, NigComSat-2 is still in the planning stages. nigcomsat.gov.ng/news-post/fg-hopes-on-new-satellite-nigcomsat-2-to-revive-economy-1 The satellite that failed in orbit was NigComSat-1, which launched on May 13, 2007, as Africa's first communication satellite. This satellite failed after a year and a half (November 11, 2008) due to a power anomaly in its solar array. NigComSat-1R launched on December 19, 2011, as a replacement for NigComSat-1. NigeriaSat-2 was launched on August 17, 2011, and it has been providing high-resolution imagery for uses like mapping, agricultural monitoring, and disaster management. Initially intended to operate for seven years, NigeriaSat-2 exceeded its expected lifespan albeit not optimally, but with a new end-of-life date of December 2024. Now as we are in January 2025, the satellite has likely been decommissioned after over 13 years of service. I hope this answers your question.

When I was 5 years old I wanted to be an astronaut. Sadly, by the time I was 7 so many negative influences derailed me from that dream and I was told to pursue more "realistic endeavors". Nigeria can gain so much from actively exploring different activities in space, not excluding building and launching our own satellites and not relying on China, Europe, USA to " assist" us in all aspects of our space engagements. I sincerely recommend that serious minded Nigerians who are passionate about "space" should come together and form a formidable platform to help push the agenda of space travel and all other related programs.

At 1:20 That image cannot fly over the earth or orbit into space. This video looks and sound like total nonsense. Space is fake. High altitude flying objects are usually classified, but they never will leave the earth and orbit into space just like what the animation cartoon video is suggesting
