I subscribed before watching because am passionate about space exploration. Nigeria should start thinking about having it's very own space station like China and US and the EU has. We have earned the right to be a big player in the space race and am glad this channel actually exists as we need more advocacy in this regard. Weldon guys 🇳🇬 ❤️

Thanks so much for your support from Mzansi! 🇿🇦🌍🚀🔭✨ It’s awesome to see such pride in Africa’s space journey. Space exploration can drive educational and technological advancements across Africa, just like South Africa’s involvement in the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) is already doing. Let's us hope Nigeria building it own spaceport & launch facilities in the next 10 - 15 years from now!!!
@SpaceForHumans3 ай бұрын
Absolutely! Nigeria’s location near the equator is a huge advantage for building a launch facility. Launches from equatorial regions benefit from the Earth’s rotational speed, making them more efficient and cost-effective. Pairing this geographical advantage with international partnerships, like those fostered by the Artemis Accords, could really accelerate Nigeria’s space ambitions! 🚀🌍
@allenbarrow49043 ай бұрын

Currently, Nigeria has 7 satelites in the space orbit.
@myarkalsaki-kamag7598Ай бұрын
When I was 5 years old I wanted to be an astronaut. Sadly, by the time I was 7 so many negative influences derailed me from that dream and I was told to pursue more "realistic endeavors". Nigeria can gain so much from actively exploring different activities in space, not excluding building and launching our own satellites and not relying on China, Europe, USA to " assist" us in all aspects of our space engagements. I sincerely recommend that serious minded Nigerians who are passionate about "space" should come together and form a formidable platform to help push the agenda of space travel and all other related programs.

Aisha well done for this very uplifting informative presentation,but the reality is very very diferent.YES its good to have all this wonderful space agenda but why not use all that money to relieve the common man on the nigerian streets of the grinding poverty pleguing that country if you can call that cronic corrupt space in africa a country with no national air line,no constant electricity supply,no clean water supply etc etc

What about NCOM SAT2 That disappeared from Space? Have they found it back?
@SpaceForHumans18 күн бұрын
As far as we understand, NigComSat-2 is still in the planning stages. nigcomsat.gov.ng/news-post/fg-hopes-on-new-satellite-nigcomsat-2-to-revive-economy-1 The satellite that failed in orbit was NigComSat-1, which launched on May 13, 2007, as Africa's first communication satellite. This satellite failed after a year and a half (November 11, 2008) due to a power anomaly in its solar array. NigComSat-1R launched on December 19, 2011, as a replacement for NigComSat-1. NigeriaSat-2 was launched on August 17, 2011, and it has been providing high-resolution imagery for uses like mapping, agricultural monitoring, and disaster management. Initially intended to operate for seven years, NigeriaSat-2 exceeded its expected lifespan albeit not optimally, but with a new end-of-life date of December 2024. Now as we are in January 2025, the satellite has likely been decommissioned after over 13 years of service. I hope this answers your question.

@SpaceForHumans3 ай бұрын
NigComSat-1 was launched by China in 2007, but it failed after about 18 months due to a technical issue. However, Nigeria has had successful launches since then, including the NigComSat-1R in 2011, which replaced the failed satellite.

@SpaceForHumans3 ай бұрын
You raise a really good point-why fund a space program when there is not reliable electricity? But it's not necessarily an either-or choice. Satellites can actually help with brownouts by monitoring power grids in real time, detecting faults for quicker repairs. And then utility companies can plan more efficient routes for power lines and identify optimal locations for renewable energy sources, like solar or wind farms, especially in remote or hard-to-access areas.
