I wouldn't waste my time doing this. You can simply buy the right size replacement miter bar and screw in the pieces. Especially for the Dewalt. You can find a bar for around $20. Simply screw in the miter gauge to the new bar, and you're done. But, if that wasn't in existence, this video would be perfect to help solve the problem.

Totally crap, but you still can keep the black part. I sent everything to recycling. You could replace the bar, because it is not expensive, but you did a great job.
@erhardnix9586Ай бұрын
Self-adhesive PTFE on one or both sides does the job too, but needs only 2 minutes. And it works the whole way long, not only when the gauge is full in the slot. Sry for my bad english :-)

Great solution, but I really don't understand why De Walt doesn't solve it at the factory for years, people have been complaining about this problem, why are we forced to solve this problem ourselves, and we have a rather expensive tool from De Walt

You perseverance, ingenuity and sketchup skills really are admirable but sorry, the factory DW miter gauge does not deserve so much effort and time. A couple of layers of blue masking tape fixes the slop issue in 30 seconds. The accuracy of angles will always be a bit hit and miss anyway (not least because you tried to set square to the throat plate and not the blade?!?! 😳 ) The factory fence is too small to provide proper support. ✌

What a shame, you have to fix such an expensive piece of equipment. Shows you are paying for name, not necessarily quality.
@diycompanionАй бұрын
You’ve got a point there. With construction table saws, some wear and tear is pretty much expected. But honestly, this one stands out because its performance is on par with cabinet table saws. For its category, it really delivers exceptional results.🥰🥰
@whar2010Ай бұрын
@ I had one I just sold because it was no where near a cabinet saw performance. Honestly, I have an old $50 Delta that is pretty equal to the Dewalt I sold. Just didn’t impress me for the price. But overall it was an average with contractor type saw. Not really any better and certainly not worse. But just my opinion after using it for a year. I had a larger Ridgid saw a few years ago, far superior saw, but it wasn’t portable as far as going from site to site easily. I replaced it with the Dewalt. Maybe I expect to much, ha ha have a good day.

Great conceptually. However, it will only work if the entire track is inserted. Worse, even if you added more set screws. since the set screws are metal, as you use it, you wear away the surface of the track itself. Better to just use tape on track. Quicker and repacks as the tape wears (softer than metal or ceramic).

Can we install cmt blades? The inner diameter of the tree is 25.4 On the Dewalt DWE7492 table saw??
@diycompanion8 ай бұрын
I don't have CMT blades, but as far as I know, you can install CMT blades. However, the issue lies with the inner hole diameter, which should be 30mm for compatibility with this machine, not 25.4mm. If you have a blade with 25.4mm inner hole, one option is to use a blade bush (steel ring) to reduce it to 16mm. It's worth nothing that using these bushes is not recommended by either the machine manufacturer or blade manufacturer due to safety concerns.

@michaelzarutsky36248 ай бұрын
Overkill much? 1. Just slide it into the slot to undo the screw with thread lock. 2. Use a cotton swab + isopropyl alcohol to degrease the sides. 3. Use PTFE tape on one side. Cut the excess off with a blade. 4. Use the cut off part of the tape on the other side - cut the excess off... 5. Rub the tape with a dry cotton swab to ensure good adhesion. 6. Done. Less than 5 minutes total. No SketchIp skills, massive vise, drill press or fancy screws required...

@@diycompanion, I got 15ach6 model and need extra ssd, but i dont have a clue which one to buy specially for my laptop
@diycompanion11 ай бұрын
Before upgrading, it's essential to observe the hardware settings in your laptop, even if the model number matches. Different configurations may exist depending on factors like the market, price etc. For instance, in this laptop, there are three slots for hard drives: (Non-RTX 3060 models:) One 2.5" drive slot, supports 2.5" HDD (up to 1TB). One M.2 2242 PCIe Gen 3x4 slot, accommodating M.2 2242 SSDs (only a small size of SSD (22mmx42mm) can be installed up to 512GB). One M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3x2 slot, supporting M.2 2242/2280 SSDs (either 22mmx42mm or 22mmx80mm, up to 1TB). Note that the 2.5" drive slot and the M.2 2280 slot are mutually exclusive, meaning they cannot be used simultaneously due to space constraints. To determine what's currently installed in your computer, you can use Device Manager or other relevant applications. Alternatively, carefully opening the back cover and observing the hardware can provide this information. Once identified, you can decide what to purchase. For example, if your computer is equipped with only an M.2 2242 SSD, you have two options: you can either install another M.2 2280 SSD (up to 1TB) or install a 2.5" HDD - up to 1TB (requiring caddy components for HDD). This information is provided to the best of my knowledge, but it may not perfectly match your computer's specifications. I recommend thorough observation and research before proceeding with any upgrades. Cheers!

Thanks a lot, man! Since I dont have the laptop at my place right now, I can not take a look under the hood.
