Hi, there is a free version of this application (the one I'm using here). It seems to have limited options compared to the pro version, but for a beginner, it's more than enough. Please use this link to find the software: www.sketchup.com/plans-and-pricing/sketchup-free. I used to learn this software through KZbin tutorials, and it has a shallow learning curve as well. There are many channels with a wide variety of tutorials, but personally, I prefer this one: www.youtube.com/@Thesketchupessentials/videos. Cheers!

Awesome video and thank you! But why can’t these miter gauge’s come out the box more reliably and accurate? I’m new to woodworking and I’m so confused on the list of jigs and after market equipment that is needed.
@diycompanion Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your appreciation. You know manufacturers mainly give their attention on factors such as portability, cost (price), and on site easy maintenance when it comes to 'job site' table saws like this. Precision is often a secondary consideration, but that doesn't necessarily mean the output is always imprecise. If we tune this machine so carefully, the output can reach the precision level of cabinet saw. As you mention in your comment, there are lot more aftermarket jigs and equipment available, but those can be quite expensive.

Dewalt jobsite saw (DWE7485) costs $299. A decent precise miter gauges starts at $100-300.

I wouldn't waste my time doing this. You can simply buy the right size replacement miter bar and screw in the pieces. Especially for the Dewalt. You can find a bar for around $20. Simply screw in the miter gauge to the new bar, and you're done. But, if that wasn't in existence, this video would be perfect to help solve the problem.

Great conceptually. However, it will only work if the entire track is inserted. Worse, even if you added more set screws. since the set screws are metal, as you use it, you wear away the surface of the track itself. Better to just use tape on track. Quicker and repacks as the tape wears (softer than metal or ceramic).

You perseverance, ingenuity and sketchup skills really are admirable but sorry, the factory DW miter gauge does not deserve so much effort and time. A couple of layers of blue masking tape fixes the slop issue in 30 seconds. The accuracy of angles will always be a bit hit and miss anyway (not least because you tried to set square to the throat plate and not the blade?!?! 😳 ) The factory fence is too small to provide proper support. ✌

Overkill much? 1. Just slide it into the slot to undo the screw with thread lock. 2. Use a cotton swab + isopropyl alcohol to degrease the sides. 3. Use PTFE tape on one side. Cut the excess off with a blade. 4. Use the cut off part of the tape on the other side - cut the excess off... 5. Rub the tape with a dry cotton swab to ensure good adhesion. 6. Done. Less than 5 minutes total. No SketchIp skills, massive vise, drill press or fancy screws required...

You’ve got a point there. With construction table saws, some wear and tear is pretty much expected. But honestly, this one stands out because its performance is on par with cabinet table saws. For its category, it really delivers exceptional results.🥰🥰
@whar2010Ай бұрын
@ I had one I just sold because it was no where near a cabinet saw performance. Honestly, I have an old $50 Delta that is pretty equal to the Dewalt I sold. Just didn’t impress me for the price. But overall it was an average with contractor type saw. Not really any better and certainly not worse. But just my opinion after using it for a year. I had a larger Ridgid saw a few years ago, far superior saw, but it wasn’t portable as far as going from site to site easily. I replaced it with the Dewalt. Maybe I expect to much, ha ha have a good day.
