Does this paddle come with a case
@sexysurfergal541

There is no try-for-30-day return policy, so I am out. B&B is small and they can do it. So everybody else can too. JustPaddles lets you pay $20 more and then you can return it (so ~10%). That's a reasonable fee and approach for a demo. Avoura website says they charge 20% re-stocking. That is absurd. If the paddle is good, then customers will want to keep it. Small % get returned and you re-sell as used. Still make a profit. Stand behind the marketing claims. This one is off to a bad start.

Communities in our area have very strict sound regulations on pickleball. Many paddles cannot pass the basic tests of dB and Hz that are acceptable. How noisy is your paddle? Note that the OWL and the Hush are two of the paddles that are acceptable in every test, many of the Selkirk paddles can also pass.

Interesting. I wouldn't describe the Rhapsody 13 as "quiet." The pop on it is very strong. I own a club in San Diego and we have to be mindful of noise. What's interesting is that its not the decibels but the pitch that makes it disrupting. Wish I had specific numbers for you - I wouldn't feel confident it would pass a strict community sound ordinance test.
@RenoDavenport
@RenoDavenport 2 күн бұрын
@@AvouraSports Yes, the higher the pitch of the sound the more it penetrates and annoys since it is a repetitive popping sound. Tennis pitch is below 600Hz, and dBA is about 40. Pickleball pitch ranges all the way up to 1,200Hz and dBA of 80-105. The "Quiet" paddles have a pitch of 600Hz or less and the dBA is around 60.

Not at all. It's the widest 13mm with the highest Twist-Weight (by far!). It doesn't play like a typical 13mm. It's plush but has noticeable pop. However, one thing it's not is an ultra power paddle. That era of paddles will hopefully be a distant memory soon :)

1. Are you going to get this paddle into the hands of the big You-Tube reviewers like John Kew, Pickleball Effect or Pickleball Medicine? 2. What has been the feedback on the length of the paddle? The hybrid and elongated shapes are so popular with lengths of 16.3-16.5 inches. The Rhapsody is only 15.5 in which is one of the shortest paddles on the market.
@AvouraSports

All three of those reviewers have Rhapsody 13's. As well as Pickleball Studio and a handful of smaller channels and reviewers! Feedback on the paddle has been fantastic. Excited to see the reviews published. It's all subjective, but thin, long paddles never felt all that organic and pleasurable to play with.

Swing wieght and rpm on spin? Im really liking what I saw and hear. I have a bad shoulder and lower swing weight and high twist weight with power and good spin is what im looking for. Im a solid 4.5 swing weight?
@AvouraSports
@AvouraSports 2 күн бұрын
higher twist weight is super important for tennis elbow and arm injury. shock and vibration are the cause of those ailments and a bigger sweet-spot is a shot with less of those. spin rate is such a hard thing to measure (unlike TW and SW). Having said that, the spin is fantastic with the T700 CF face - it really lets you pocket the ball and the forgiveness of the paddle allows for more accessible spin on more surface area of the face.

Hi Steve. I just wondered if you used any lead/tungsten tape on your personal Avoura paddle? If so, where do you put it on your paddle. I realize the twist weight is already crazy good, but wondered if there were any dead spots on the top end of the paddle head. With the weighted foam around the perimeter, I'm hoping there would be no need for additional weight. Thanks in advance. One other question... Why not use the other two tenths of an inch on the allowable length of the paddle head? Is this to cut down on swing weight as much as possible?
@rickdoerner7750
@rickdoerner7750 3 күн бұрын
Also, I have one other question. What is your opinion about the power and pop of this paddle?
@AvouraSports
@AvouraSports 3 күн бұрын
Steve Dawson tested every possible option with the metallic gel. Coming from tennis he prefers a tip heavy paddle, but the weight at the head didn't play as well as solely on the 9 and 3. Second best was applying some near the throat, but after so much testing we went with not only Steve, Callan and Jennifer preferred but sampled dozen of rec players with blind tests. Having said that. We realize there's customizations players like to make even if we feel its perfect "out the box." For instance, our grip circumference is 4.1", which is on the smaller side. The logic there is that it's impossible to "grip down" if the handle is too big, but its easy to "grip-up" for preferred size. That's why we offer a free over-grip with every paddle. Lead tape can be applied to slightly modify playability and move the sweet-spot around a bit. We also are giving away free lead-tape with every paddle order. Making the paddle fully in the USA has allowed us to test and optimize everything on the fly. I don't know how we'd do this level of R&D overseas. Anyways. Thanks for your question and apologies for the wordy reply!
@AvouraSports
@AvouraSports 3 күн бұрын
The pop is fantastic. the power is accessible and will compliment 98% of player's games. If a player is a banger and just wants to try to hit baseline winners every shot, a gen 3 (floating core) is probably for said player, but I truly feel ultra-power paddles are sabotaging most people's game and destroying the sport.

Looks like an amazing design for beginners! But isn't twist weight INDIRECTLY correlated to sweet spot (they can be closely related but they aren't the same)? From my understanding, twist weight is a measurement of the paddle's moment of inertia (it's stability, as you've described); its resistance to rotational forces along its axis. A higher twist weight can give the impression of a larger sweet spot because the paddle is more stable with off-center shots, but it doesn't account for the sweet spot's vertical component.
@AvouraSports
@AvouraSports 5 күн бұрын
The paddle is great for beginners but also very suitable for pros. There are five pros using it, one being Callan Dawson from the PPA. It's a dynamic paddle. Twist weight and sweet-spot are sister metrics, but of course are different. The higher the twist-weight the larger the sweet-spot. And of course, the way its designed and the weighting system we use enlarges the sweet-spot east to west. Besides adding head weight I can't think of a design that would elongate it North/South. Thanks for reaching out!

The feedback from reviewers we've received is that it leans towards power but is more dynamic that a traditional power paddle. It provides the right amount of power without sacrificing touch and control. We test so many designs and lay-outs to get this balance. The one thing it's definitely not is an ultra-power paddle. The focus of the paddle is accessible power, control and touch with the large sweet-spot.
