How do you determine the FSC (maximum frame size) of a java card? I'd like to try this with different NFC cards
@cameronsteven49047 ай бұрын
Hi Mr. Quattlebaum! Quick question... Where did you get the JAVA Card that does not have the EMV chip embedded? I have been looking everywhere and cant find one. Could you possibly provide me with a link to where i can purchase it, and/or card brand name/model? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks! :)

@@cheers0521 I live in Los Angeles County. Invasive Eastern gray squirrels have taken over California. Whenever I take a break from trapping them, they begin attacking our fruit trees again.

@pacificcoast101 Makes sense! I'm probably delusional thinking I have just a few more to catch and release. Good luck keeping yours under control.

Hello Mr. Quattlebaum, Really neat video (and GitHub pages), sir! I envy your brilliance and ingenuity. I was looking into developing alternative solutions to locking/unlocking/controlling my Tesla when I stumbled across your research, so thank you for all the effort you have put into this. This is usually a very effective trap. I think one squirrel figured it out and posted it on reddit. You may need to buy a havahart to catch this one genius before he teaches the rest of the species.

Havaharts are good. My squirrel population saw a sudden reduction in the last month … lol … but there was the last big boss that was very cautious. I saw him avoiding the traps for several days in a row. Finally, he entered the Havahart today!

I think this is happening to me as well. Peanuts are gone and no squirrel in the trap. Wondering if a raccoon can reach in. May need to purchase a trail cam.

Maybe a rat or mouse. They can walk right through the mesh on a squirrelinator. Try a havahart as well.

Very awesome! I purchased a bunch of these when they were still available and the GE discontinued them for some reason. I have two extra strings still in box and have noticed I have a few bulbs on the old sets that no longer perform properly (wrong color) do you know if its possible to use the new sets to repair the old sets? I ask because you seem extremely knowledgeable. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the interesting video. I have a couple of the GE strings (newer 5-wire design) that I would like to modernize. Do you think these might be compatible with WLED controllers. I read somewhere that DMX controllers could control the GE strings.

The issue I have with this type of probe is the play with the hotend during normal printing, unless you use hard strings which push the bed down more on some areas than other If you have a large printer

Yeah, I ended up abandoning this approach. For years I didn't use any automatic bed leveling. However, I recently did a rebuild, and I now have pressure sensors integrated directly into the heated-bed support assembly. It works great. facebook.com/darco/posts/604189041063

Hey man you still active? I read the NOTES.txt in your repo and saw you originally planned to use LDAP group/user certificates in order to authenticate different users, however your code doesn't seem to be tailored towards this. I seem to be somewhat clueless as to how I would challenge-response the Yubikey using a certificate via NFC or otherwise verify its authenticity. A realistic scenario with certificates could be encrypting a secret message with the user's public certificate from AD, sending it to the Yubikey and challenging it to decrypt it successfully. Hope you read this - really interested in what your thoughts are. edit: The main part is not knowing how the certificate from your Yubikey is being extracted / validated.

I have four strings. Can I connect them to have the same pattern for all using one remote?
@robertquattlebaum8296 жыл бұрын
If they are all of this similar type (three wires), then yes, that should be possible. You would need to identify the ground line and the signal line and connect those at the start of each string. Each string would still need it's own power source, but you would disconnect signal line from the original controller on three of the strings.
@fevgg6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the answer. Yes, just connected two strings and switched to solid white. The first string is brighter, then second one. Checked voltage: at the power supply was 5.6V, at the end of the first string 3.7V, at the end of the second string was 2.6V. They definetly need their own power source.

It is a remotizer: www.remotizer.com/ . At the moment I'm just controlling the keyfob using GPIOs on the RPI. I confirmed that the fob does use rolling codes, but eventually I plan on modifying the unit to allow hard-wired control to eliminate the obvious RF attack surface.

Extremely cool! I assume you have the keys+cert loaded in the "key mgmt" slot? I'd love to see that combined with a different PIN protected slot with and a keypad, because what you have here is a technological equivalent to having the corrent physical key. Combining it with a PIN/password you no longer need to worry about losing the Yubi and someone opening your door with it. Relying on revocation is not enough if someone just steals your keys and goes to your house right away.
@RobertQuattlebaum9 жыл бұрын
***** No, they are loaded in the "card auth" slot. All the other slots need PINs, which make them pretty useless for this particular application. NFC doesn't work well with PINs, for a few reasons. If you want to have a two-factor authentication, you should really have some sort of electrical contact to the credential. Ideally the keypad would allow the pin to be entered directly to the credential, so that the PIN never leaves the keypad+card-reader. <rant>That you can even use the non-card-auth slots over NFC is a stupdism of the yubikey neo's PIV applet implementation. I am baffled as to why they don't at least let you disable that capability via the management key.</rant> Anyway, to make such broken credentials work with a PIN via NFC, you would need to have the user input the PIN first and then present the credential to the reader, which is unintuitive. It also would actively broadcast your PIN from the NFC reader, which is fairly easy to read remotely.

Very cool. I'm interested in trying this out. Curious, what software are you running on the raspberry pi that speaks to the yubikey? Do you think this would work with a HID pivclass door reader, which speaks RS-485 and can be had on ebay for less than $100?
@RobertQuattlebaum9 жыл бұрын
***** The Raspberry PI is currently running some shell scripts which use OpenSC and OpenSSL, but for now it's just a prototype. (see it here: github.com/darconeous/SimpleCardAuth ) I'm using Resin.io to load it on the RPI: github.com/darconeous/resin-SimpleCardAuth I'll be making a fully-integrated solution (which I'm calling FlexPACS) that is based on Node.js. It's just an empty repository at the moment, but I'm hoping to start filling it out over the next few weeks: flexpacs.org Regarding the HID pivClass stuff... I purchased two of these, but I'm at a loss for how I could use them. The RS-485 protocol is proprietary and undocumented. Additionally, you need special cards from HID to convert the pivClass readers to actually perform authentication---Otherwise they just output the CHUID on the Wiegland interface.

I wonder if the issue related to X += (>1) could be minimized by changing the stacking of your RGB updates. if I understand correctly, changing from (15, 0, 0) to (0,0,15) would actually take 2 commands, yes? So you might have a choice between a black space, or a slightly brighter purple blink. I'm thinking by adding an extra frame, you could ease it a little by hitting (8,0,8)) between, making sure to update positive increments first. Just a thought. anyway. really cool hack. looks great! edit- I'd guess the reason white is (12,12,12) is to not have 150 (50*3) LED junctions Burning full blast in a case where the whole string is white, so they cap the TOTAL value at 15.
