Yep, lots of solutions for cherry mx interference on north facing leds. Oh, wait, two years later and everyone wanting shine-through keys are now SOL because most new designer high quality keyboards are south facing and have no shine-through... Even though many boards have RGB lighting with elaborate options, it's basically useless unless you like it for accent lighting that serves no real purpose (and yet people wanting to use RGB to light their keys are derided by keyboard 'purists' and 'hardcore' as amateurs, casuals, gamer dweebs and so forth, therefore keyboards should not 'pander' to shine-through needs). There are dozens of threads on reddit subs begging for decent keycaps that work with south switches because the so-called 'DIY savvy' keyboard hardcores can't be bothered to grind off a millimeter or pick different switches to avoid the interference. Why did the market have to utterly bail on those of us who like a thoccy keeb AND need functional RGB backlit keys?

Do not attempt this if you have tactile switches. The tactile switches require insain precision to reassembal and after 4 hours and two destroyed switches I gave up and had to order replacements. It basically impossible unless you are Ant man.

I freaking hate south facing LEDs. South facing LEDs have uneven lighting. You can literally see south facing LEDs by simply looking at the keyboard, and it's very distracting. They also don't light up the characters well.

I'm about to buy an alice, but I think I'm gonna go with the Q10 as I'd prefer to have the F keys and there's no spacebar issue on that one which is nice.

I've sent back a Keychron V6 because the LEDs were shining into my yes (on any brightness level). It was uncomfortable to look at. It had south-facing switches where the LED faces the user. So I think north-facing LED is better from my point of view, I do not want to look directly into the light source. I love when a keyboard maker can implement backlit keys without the light bleeding through around the keys.

The rainy 75 is my first south facing LED keyboard and all I've heard from vids like this is how compatible south facing is with caps yet the caps that I own and want to use are worthless. No downside to south facing they say. What about reduced battery life? Reduced visibility? Reduced OMG!? Reduced bank account? South facing LEDs are not for typists either. The only people who would use solid cherry caps to block most of the light are people who don't like it. Otherwise, it will be in your eyes. If you like RGB, you don't want south facing switches unless you cant live without the cherry profile which is all south facing switches have going for them. The LED is sacrificed.

Just a heads up for anyone thinking about lubing their keyboard switches with vegetable oil… DON’T. Now I’m not just typing-I’m hosting a tiny rave for ants on my desk. My switches are smooth, but now I’ve got ants critiquing my typing speed. 😅 Next time, I’ll stick to actual switch lube and leave the kitchen out of my keyboard maintenance!

Zilent V2 are sooooo bad. I believe they actually delete bad reviews on their website. So wobbly, so much spring ping, scratchy sound, and long pre-bump travel distance. Very bad.

I built an rk61 with blue clear rgb gateron switches and custom keycaps and its sooo perfect and clicky. I always used razer board with green tactile switches but blues are even more clicky and the press registers at the exact moment of the click where as my 3 razer keyboards didnt activate or release at the exact position of the click. Just my observation. Also all my razer boards had wire stabalizers on the longer keys like tab shift and spacebar but RK doesnt need them.

How about you just go with what you like the most and what company is better and how the company represents itself for the customer which has better software which will last longer which will get updates which is best for you yourself I got my Huntsman mini with liner keys ultra smooth got it 2 weeks ago and its a massive leap from the Blackwidow V3 keyboard everything about the mini is just better takes less room its compact I like the design only thing I dislike about it would be the RGB wish it was 3x brighter its not very bright like I thought it would be but good thing Amazon has those Pudding Keycaps getting some soon heard it makes the huntsman Mini extremely bright Which I like Love RGB all in all I got the V1 Mini Wish I got the V3 Pro with rapid trigger switches Liner seems way better than the Clicky keys I love the click sounds tho but Liner first time using liner with a razer product never did like liner but razer liner switches are so NICE plus they are more faster than clicky switches which offer a faster reaction time I think the purple switches are 1.4mm to trigger input and Liner is like 1.0mm to trigger inputs might not seem like a lot but it is

Well, Kailh box jades are very similar but definitely not the same, you should get the navy every time instead. The jades are a tad lighter, but the problem with them is that they can actuate before the click, which never happens with the navy. You could say that the navy is an improved, more refined version of the jade.
@mojojojo15292 ай бұрын
An interesting tidbit is that Kailh box switches come pre-lubed. This might be the reason you don't get much of a difference lubing them some more.
@mojojojo15292 ай бұрын
I have to say they sound MUCH better in a larger, hollow case, like the 8bitdo retro keyboards, as opposed to open, stiff ones, because they amplify the good qualities of the already great sound.
@mojojojo15292 ай бұрын
Or nr. 4, they have spent decades of their life typing on actual typewriters, sometimes 50 pages a day, and they are more comfortable with very heavy clicky switches because anything else is "too light" for them. (Yes, that's me if you were wondering).
@mojojojo15292 ай бұрын
Or nr. 3, they are looking for a whiff of nostalgia and don't have $1200 to spend on an original IBM buckling spring keyboard, or $400 on a replica. Kailh box navy are as close as you can get with modern switches.

Just for the record, I'm pretty sure the Apex Pro does not support analog input, despite having analog switches. It's kind of an important distinction for this discussion since a lot of people are shopping for keyboards that specifically have that feature.

Sorry mate but that's to much time wasted.. There is one secret way, that no one of utubers ever show but preder to teach all this patence kill guide.. take away all caps, spray WD40 all over the keyboard without caps.. press randomly all the switches and repeat the process few time. Leave the keyboard on sunshine for few hours. Work is done, u can put ur key caps back. And your ears eill say thanks you. Only negative side from that wd40 is not real lub, so u will be need to repeat the process every 6-8months
