Thank you Christie. I agree with you, the history that shows in the final pieces adds to our artwork. If we were to start again with white gesso overtop we will lose the richness and depth of the pieces. And some of my pieces have a lot of history 😉😂I appreciate you watching it. Have a fabulous weekend. 🤗

Its hard creating and making videos. For this abstract art we have to let go of thought and try and get in the right brain. I think all these formulas confuse the process. My painting was better before I watched all the utube videos.
@lynettemelnyk12 күн бұрын
Thank you Mary for your feedback. You are absolutely correct that we need to let go of the logical thinking and get into the intuitive right brain to let the creativity flow. For some artists these videos are helpful at the time of painting to explain one’s process, for others they are helpful to watch and take in just the nuggets of information that resonate with them, and for others the videos may not be the best way for them to create. I love that we are all unique as artists and we learn and can choose how it is best for us as individuals to be creative and let the magic happen, because being in the flow of creating is a great experience. Happy painting! 🎨❤

Interesting…..what is the bottle you are drawing with? Thank you ❤
@lynettemelnyk13 күн бұрын
Hello Mary Beth, It is a little squeeze bottle. You can find these in artist supply stores or online. Search for precision applicator bottle, fine tip, sometimes it says glue bottle or needle tip. They can come in packages of 4 or 10. Very inexpensive, and very fun to use. Enjoy!🎨 If you have any other questions, just let me know.

Nice process! I have purchased some fine fine applicators a couple of years ago. I am inspired to try. Do you mix with a medium or water… What proportion, please? Do you have these glued on a board?
@lynettemelnyk14 күн бұрын
Thank you Maureen, I am happy that you are going to try the fine tip applicators. I don't use specific proportions, because I don’t always use the same paint brand available. I use acrylic paint, water and a little medium. I judge it by how runny it is. With some experiments you will find what consistency that you like. I use the medium because if I use too much water the paint breaks and is too diluted. Some brands reach this point quicker than others. If you get to that point, add more paint to try to bring it back. The substrate I have used for this abstract collages is board books that you can buy for cheap in stores in the kids section. The thickness doesn’t warp very much in my experience. I hope that helps. Have fun trying it! 🎨❤

Truer words were never spoken. I make sure that for those nice paced times, I allocate in the day, so much time, after laundry is done all necessary house chores are reasonably accomplished and I have a nice drink in my hand before I head to the studio. Lay it all out neat on my desk and make sure there will be no interruptions. Oh, and can’t forget, nice clean work space!!
@lynettemelnyk16 күн бұрын
Denise, you have it so intently and logically worked out. ❤🙌👏Thank you for sharing. I so agree with you, when things on my to do list are done and I don't have to think about them. You sound so organized! I have a question for you because I love having a clean work space, but when a project gets going, I may have every flat space filled with tools, paper, rags, etc. Do you keep your work space clean throughout your project?

I received the brush years ago from elizabethschowachertart.com, who is such a talented brush maker. Although, I cannot remember if it was horse hair or something else and I cannot see it on her website now. I agree that this brush does have more structure and stiffer bristles. I hope you can find one or even contact and ask Elizabeth who is always so approachable and helpful. Let me know if you find one. Cheers.

Yep, I'm weird, i like to do things in order. Anyhoo, I really like your style and approach to abstract art. The scratching on the paint at the beginning was an inspired mive, as is working on 3 pages at a time Something I'll be copying for sure. I just Love your whole style Lynette!! New subscriber! Thanks for continuing the video!! What is your original substrate for these? 😊
@lynettemelnykАй бұрын
Thank you so much! I appreciate you loving my style and being a subscriber. For the substrate, it is little board books for children 😀 I have found a couple (not many) in the little library stands that people or communities have in their yard, or buy them cheap at the dollar stores. They don't warp like a paper does with all the layers. If the surface is glossy to begin with, you may want to rough it up with sandpaper or just scratching it, to make sure the first layer adheres well to the board. If you try these please let me know. Enjoy!

Wonderful tutorial, thank you. Can you use acrylic paint to ‘stick on’ papers? I thought you had to use gel medium.
@lynettemelnykАй бұрын
Hi Susie, thank you for your compliment and question. I have used gel medium, acrylic paint, glue stick and liquid glue to stick on papers. Sometimes when I am in the creative flow, and if my gel medium is not readily available, then I use the paint in my palette. If I don't want the chance of paint to show along the edges of a new layer, then gel medium for sure. I experiment and see what else works because as artists we don't always have to follow the rules ;) I hope that helps.
@creativebeanart28 күн бұрын
Just wanted to add, I also will use paint to "stick" paper together. I tend to then go back and rip off of the paper, when it's dry, which creates a lovely texture.... like peeling paint.
@lynettemelnyk28 күн бұрын
@@creativebeanart Thank you for sharing your technique with us! That recently happened to me, but I didn't want it to stick. I left the paper on too long and half of the paper stayed on the painting, but, like you, I loved the texture. Great things come from the unexpected. 💃🙌🎨
