personally i think the fact Photek and Source Direct were using the same samplers at one point explains a lot about why his early work was so like this then later he just went whack compared to this era..i think a lot of the samples were created by Source Direct and it just was not publicised by any of them that that happened if you listen to Source Direct you'll see what i mean.. and I'm pretty sure they all used the same studio and sampler etc for a while when they were starting out from what i can remember

Got all the early NUT releases on vinyl BITD, including this. A unique track. That beat is hard and was different from a lot of stuff around at the time.

This is the track that got me on Hokusai. I love that... weird techno electric bass. IDK what it is, but it reminds me of the sewer/ industrial level in your average late 90s video game. I'm not a music guy if you couldn't tell. I just like the feel of it.

In the heart of the city, where the drooping clouds seemed to hang low like a shroud, there existed a clandestine realm hidden beneath the surface. A labyrinth of sewers and dungeons, a subterranean stage for a peculiar parade of masked figures. Two masks, one portraying The Agonizer and the other The Antagonizer, adorned the faces of the enigmatic players in this dark theater. The heavy hitters among them wielded hammers, not just any hammers, but those crafted for a nefarious purpose - the hammer throw, a weapon that blurred the line between fluidity and pounding force. As the night descended, the echoing thumps of the hammer throws resonated through the hidden catacombs. Stealth movements danced like shadows, and the fluidity of the masked figures seemed to defy the laws of gravity. Whirling spirals of violence met with whiplash precision, creating a symphony of chaos in the labyrinthine passages. In the midst of the cacophony, The Agonizer and The Antagonizer emerged as distinct entities. The former, a masked master of convoluted convulsions, moved with a grace that belied the brutality of each strike. The latter, draped in dissonance and distorted face clown visage, exuded an aura of malevolence that seemed to permeate the very air. Amidst the parade of masked enigmas, a hegemony of eerie control prevailed. Black silhouette birds, witnesses to the clandestine affairs, hovered overhead like ominous sentinels. The sewer walls seemed to absorb the sounds, damping the echoes to a subtle cascade that resonated with an unsettling energy. Deeper into the underground, in a cellar shrouded in perpetual darkness, lurked creatures that defied description - part frog, part monkey, their grotesque forms moved with a haunting grace. They were the hidden audience to this secret spectacle, witnesses to the masked dance of power and chaos. As the night unfolded, a subtle cataclysm brewed beneath the city streets. The hammer throws continued their relentless pounding, the masked figures engaged in a dance of dominance and submission. The convoluted convulsions of The Agonizer clashed with the dissonance of The Antagonizer, creating a tableau of conflict and intrigue. Above ground, the city slept, oblivious to the clandestine ballet transpiring beneath its surface. The masked players, with their distorted faces and heavy hitters, continued their enigmatic performance in the hidden realm, a shadowy spectacle that defied explanation and comprehension.

In the heart of the city, where the grungy alleyways hid secrets like discarded wrappers, there was Harvey "Grimes" Malone, a guy known for lurking in the corners. His existence was as obscure as the shadows that embraced him. Each evening, Grimes would take a smoke, the tip of his cigarette glowing like a solitary ember in the mist of a hazy early night. One such evening, as vapors of smoke curled in the air, he noticed a silhouette of a figure emerging from the darkness. She moved with a mysterious grace, almost ninja-like, her every step leaving a trail of questions in the squalor of the alley. The garbage cans echoed with the sound of her silent presence. Grimes, intrigued by the enigma that now shared the narrow space with him, watched as the mysterious woman disappeared into the shadows. His curiosity sparked, he decided to follow. The alleyway seemed to stretch endlessly, the mist playing tricks on his perception. The flickering lights from a distant taxi cab created an eerie ambiance, adding to the confusion that clouded the surroundings. As Grimes continued his pursuit, the mysterious woman led him to an unexpected haven-a crystal room of mirrors tucked away at the end of the alley. The reflective surfaces distorted reality, making it impossible to discern truth from illusion. The mystery deepened with every step inside, each mirror unveiling a different facet of the enigmatic woman. Distraction took hold as Grimes found himself lost in the maze of reflections. The sound of his footsteps echoed in the mirrored chamber, creating a symphony of confusion. The woman appeared to possess a mysterious artifact, its glow enhancing the mystique surrounding her. The mirrors whispered mysteries that danced with the shadows. As Grimes struggled to make sense of the illusions surrounding him, the mysterious woman vanished once again. The grungy alley, the garbage, the mist, and the smoke seemed to have swallowed her whole, leaving Grimes alone in the labyrinth of mirrors, pondering the fleeting silhouette that had momentarily disrupted the monotony of his shadowy existence. The artifact's glow lingered in his mind, a symbol of the unanswered questions that persisted in the city's depths.

Random fun fact: Ono Sendai was responsible for this remix, but No-U-Turn accidentally labeled it as the 'Makai Remix' instead. There's some more info about it on the bonus features from Makai's 'Stealth' album.
