I think chill well can be an amazing player. Before all the injuries he was an England contender and amazing under Tuchel. However this is a lose lose for us. If he comes in and doesn’t do well then we’ve gained nothing from bringing him in and will still play and run Mitchel into the ground. If he comes in and does do well… even if he says he wants to come back to palace Chelsea will just up the price to one we can’t afford and he’ll just go to a team that can afford him. Same with Loftus cheek and Gallagher and then we will be back in the same position we are now!

With Wharton out and Chalobah recalled I think we underestimated how reliant we were on Anderssen for our early buildup play and diagonal switches to get our attacks going - we don't have any other top passers in our squad to build from midfield and it shows!

My thinking is, yes we lost the CB cover but if we do sign a proper attacking wing-back on the left side could we maybe shift Mitchell to be our left sided CB in the 3 until we can get better cover then Lerma? Then we can see about getting additional cover at CB next year if Riad doesn't look like he'll be 100% by next season

There is no way Chilwell will be signed permanently. He is on 200,000 per week and on contract to summer 2027. The only reasons to get him is as either there is no one else if Mitchell gets injured or that he is so good that we will finish higher than would have done otherwise and we get more prize money. That would also highlight that Mitchell is not good enough. Overall this is unlikely and it's another transfer cockup

At the end of the day chillwell is better than no one. We absolutely fumbled the diouf deal tho. If we wanted him so badly why didn’t we start negotiating earlier. Hopefully we go back in for Diouf in the summer

Think Chilwell is a great player and you're deluded if you think otherwise (admittedly his injury record is a worry). RLC, Gallagher and Chalobah have been very good loans for us. Just tired of us being the club that bumps up the profile of their players. Still pissed off how they tapped up Olise and continue to try and sign Guehi.

@@algorerhythm69 I don't think one person said he was a bad player. What we have a problem with is the fact he hasn't played football, will likely take a month to two, to really get up to speed, that's if he makes it through that time without picking up a fresh injury which we know he is prone to, pretty sure he's been injured more than Kieran Tierney. Add to that the potential loan fee, covering whatever percentage of wages Chelsea want when we only have to buy a permanent LWB in the summer. You may not be deluded about Chilwell's ability, but you seem to sidestep a hell of a lot of the actual issues we're concerned about.

Chilwell is inj prone. IF he stays fit it’s cover for Mitchell. I do t think he’s a better option and it’s not long term imo. But agree he needs to be a last option

Not over comfortable with listening to the attacks on D. Maybe bear that in mind. Just a bit of feedback. I actually thinks he's right as well. The club constantly 'right off' the first 4/5 fixtures because the squad isn't ready.

Don’t place too much pressure / expectation on Franca early doors. He’s young, essentially never played or had a chance to get up to speed in the premier League and has come back from a long injury. People need to be patient otherwise we’ll risk wrecking player confidence by getting on his back. Just think and learn from Kamada who is not a bad player. Everyone is different, eg young Esse is fearless and confident but will need time to adapt to the higher level and expectation. He’ll then kick on and fulfill his potential like Wharton

Should have rested Eze after his knock not 100%fit he needs to rest him. Wharton back and kamarda Franka Esse Davene. It's not going to be an easy game . Utd aren't playing great at home but they are getting better. The manager knows what to do hes a good manager

Look around the league. Couple teams have maximum 2 signings. Most just 1. Lots of loan recalls. No marquee signings anywhere. Esse is possibly the most exciting signing of the whole window so far. Last season we were the biggest spenders in the jan window. Less than 30mill for Wharton and Munoz. There are about 2 viable targets in world football for Palace at LWB, if that. Everyone team needs key upgrades and cover. There's a clear lack of available players at every level.
