A bit late here but I’m looking at the allak 2 for bicycle touring. I want something more durable than The hubba hubba. Was looking at the Nammatj 2 (non gt) and Nallo 2 gt as well. Struggling to pick but the free standing nature of allak appeals. Will be used in north and South America Europe and south east Asia etc

I absolutely agree that the Thermarest Rigerest Solar is an excellent piece of equipment and fully serves its purpose in most situations. I still don’t understand why the manufacturer stopped production

The jury is still out with me. They replaced my BD Storm 400 with a 450 but the reviews on Amazon for the 450 show there is still an issue with the latch. I believe my 400 had a 2 year warranty, the papers for the 450 show a 3 year warranty. I can’t ding them too much if they covered the first one on the warranty. I will see how this 450 fares.

This video was very informative, thank you, i have a question regarding foam pads. This late August/early September im planning to doing a trip where i can expect night temperatures of around 0-5 degree C/30-41 degree F and maybe a bit lower. Since i usually hike in warmer temperatures i only have a z lite sol. Do you think it would be enough to beef it up with a thin pad with maybe 1-2r value? To reduce bulk i would cut that down a bit so it mainly covers my torso and leave a bit of my feet exposed. I am usually a very warm sleeper.

I have both Nammaj GT3 and Akto. For use in New Zealand hunting conditions all year round, you cant beat them. Cost is something anyone can overcome. You cant ovecrome a collapsed or ripped tent in the deep hills.

I am glad to see others have had it work on their Hilleberg tents. I just used the silnylon patch on my Hilleberg Staika. It took a lot of pressing to get it to adhere to the tent. Hoping it holds!

Hi Michael, that's a good question. Tbh, I don't have any specific recommendations. The gloves I'm using now are a bit older. I like some of the black diamond shell mitts I've seen recently, but have never used them so can't provide any valid suggestions.

As much as I value my hilleberg tents, if I were to contemplate doing this is bug season I would use my Durston X-mid 1 Pro. No bugs can get in, the headroom is much taller than the Fly and Footprint mode of the Akto ( 45" of headroom or 114 cm) and there are two huge vestibules. The Durston can sleep hikers up to about 6' 8" tall and the best part is that the tent weighs in a bit less than a pound or 440 grams.
