They actually made björn isfält redo the track… some Hollywood-execs thought that the original recording wasn’t Hollywood enough… just heard the original on swedish radio… so much more organic and dynamic…

@@ManicMindTrick not a clue! It was a documentary on Björn on SR1, swedish radio. They played a piece from the original track and I was both surprised and completely floored, cause I love the movie and the score, didn’t know he had composed it. But man! it had soul, subtle, almost frail… It was after the screening for the suit-people that they asked for a do-over… so, the movie must have been ready, with the original score…

I have come across this video only today, refreshing memories from late 80s when Dynasty was one of my favourite shows. No doubt, Bill Conti who produced this classic theme is a genius composer along side others such as Henry Mancini and John Barry.

Perhaps the best rendition of the theme, with the slightly slower tempo so you can sit back and enjoy the music more--very clever. I love how the trumpets play, with their very modest vibratos at the end of each note to elicit a feeling of helpless pleasure. Example starting at 1:47. This rendition is indeed so beautiful it can make a grown man cry, as suggested in the intro. Bill Conti would be very proud of this one.
