Great video. I'm a huge fan of the Santos. I already own the 2 tone and steel with the silver opaline dial. I just picked up this variant and it's a very different vibe with all black iteration. The 2 tone is very classic and elegant, the all steel is more smart/casual, but the ADLC is definitely the much sportier version. I'm going to be wearing it on a 50-50 basis with my 6 digit Submariner.

What do you think of the new 37 automatic SW300 version of this?

Maybe I'm crazy but I feel like you could pull off a vintage 39mm pretty easily. In person, 33mm looks so so small to me, but maybe that is just me being used to wearing an explorer ii everyday. I have tiny tiny wrists, and would even happily wear a 42mm offshore, and that watches aesthetic is to be a big chunk on the wrist. This is changing my thinking though to consider a 33mm at some point. I really want a tantalum AP, but the 56175 is probably the only one I can realistically go for haha. Awesome video.

Just got a my two tone galbee 2961 in mint condition from 1990 today right now 19:33 gmt dec 18th 2024 and oh yess, not even my cup of tea I’ve never cared much for the santos never wanted one but such is the joys of watches I ’m sold literally and this isn’t not my most expensive watch by a long shot. I’m going to wait the honey moon period get divorced fall for a younger lady and go for the all gold gekko. Watches aye, a never ending obsession

I was worried about it being too thick. I've owned several Tudor's and 5 Rolex professional watches. Finally pulled the trigger on the BB Pro, after wearing it for a couple of days, I don't even notice the thickness. It's my new favorite.

37 x 48 mm ? Way too long, especially for the width. Going with Tudor 1926 instead. This watch is also a bit femine for my tast. The Tudor looks more adult in my view. With this length you need a 7.25 wrist or greater. When you say the lugs hug the wrist (which is ideal) the image shows the lugs NOT hugging your wrist, and demonstrates what I am saying.

This guy can't even pronounce the name of the brand he's defending correctly 🤦‍♂...The H is silent..say "OOH-BLO" not HEW-BLOW. This tracks perfectly with the typical owner...They're loud, garish watches that are famous for being famous and that appeal to ignorant people with bad taste and money to waste. They're the purple Maserati SUV of the watch world.

The only reason to buy a Cartier is if you can't get a Rolex. Cartier's are beautiful watches but the movement is average and the power reserve is terrible for such an expensive watch. Also the depreciation level is massive.

Also check out Breguet 3297... 1mm smaller and uses Breguet/JLC caliber 818. The dial proportions with larger subsecond dial and bolder roman numerals with cabachon topped crown really speak to me a bit more than this one.

The best example of Breguet numerals in a GP dial is more recent, the 1966 special edition with Grand Feu enamel dial and sub seconds. It is exquisitely done. The GP Richeville tonneau grande date moonphase also has Breguet applied gold numerals, a very distinctive dial and watch.

people hate hublot because its a 1500 dollar watch selling for 20000 I think your watch looks very nice, elegant and classy. I first heard of the brand in 2017 when my colleague had one, he was customer facing and looked like something from a GQ magazine. I thought the watch was ugly, and when i heard the price i thought it was stupid as well. Didnt tell him that of course, but since that day i have not liked hublot. All the hate is very warranted though for the brand. if you get a watch at a decent price that reflects the price of manufacturing and the price of ETA then there is no problem buying it.

Not sure if I would pick the green SMP. If any it would most likely be the one with white dial and black bezel. Before that I would seriously consider the green Planet Ocean Boutique Edition. But I am already well-served with a blue SMP, a black 42mm first gen PO, both from 2008 and an orange Planet Ocean Chronograph from 2009. Except the latter those watches have become bigger and heavier over the past iterations, so I consider my current watches the sweet spot in terms of size, wearability and movement technology. If I were about to start buying watches today I would most likely go directly to the PO lineup. Yes, it's more expensive but the movement is better and the overall look with dial, crown and helium escape valve looks much more coherent in my opinion.

It is worth the additional cost to get the titanium version at 124 grams on the bracelet it helps to negate the additional thickness

Did you ever figure out that that bracelet clearly isn't made of platinum links? They're clearly "grey" - you should check the weight sometime

I love to see this brand getting some love! I’m 21, recently I inherited my Fathers Ebel Discovery watch. It’s not the most expensive piece, heck it’s not my most expensive piece. But I love it! There’s something about Ebel watches that makes them so special with their in house builds. Price should never justify a watch either, all Ebels I’ve seen, and worn, have been fantastically priced, high quality watches. My Father had great taste.
