Isn't the kill wire thats going to ignition and on off switch the ground for the CDI?

I have a basic question. On my 90cc Kymco, the plug will spark whether it is grounded to engine or not. I am used to having to ground the plug to the engine/frame for it to spark. I assume because the coil has 2 wires to include a ground, this is normal. I just noticed when I was working on a spark issue that it would through a spark with the plug and plug wire laying on top of the front tire, and that was a new one for me.

So I have a 8 pole stator no pulse on stator have a DC 5 wire cdi four wire plug in and one wire on the two plug and a 4 pin rectifier and battery I'm guessing this is a DC set up but is the stator DC or AC

CRF 450. Was running. I held kull switch down to kill engine. And so far I have put a new stater in it and no spark. This has made my day so crappy . Just finished motocross track and can't ride stupid bike . Please help ne

I'm hooking up my stator and cdi nd ignition coil correctly bt for some reason one of my wire get very hot and starts to melt

Unfortunately I have all brand new parts other than the engine itself. It will turn over but won’t start. I have spark it just will not start

The first part was helpful, thank you. However, I found it rather frustrating that you just assume everyone has money to purchase a new carb. Might only be 25$ to you, but not everybody lives in a first world country.

Sorry mine tells: low voltage in tachometer sircuit when diagnosed. Everything works but tachometer. Its digital

I'm going to start changing my spark plug wire/coil and CDI at the same time. I'll keep the old one for a few months just in case

I have a 6 pin cdi but only 5 wires that plug into it from the wire harness I believe that it's dc however I do have a kick start I hooked up a tachometer and did the touch method off the coil to see what end worked it was the positive side this was with a stock cdi when I installed a performance cdi tachometer didn't work any ideas. So, I could put a dc cdi box on my Ac system? If I powered the dc box with switch 12v power, then I could leave the ac charging wires going to the rectifier alone and still charge the battery? Thanks

3 wires only from ignition case. No red wire. All 4 cavities used on CDI 4 pin connector. Yellow, white from stator and blue with white from pickup. Arctic Cat 90cc ATV.

Good afternoon, I wanted to know why my ATV Go kart doesn't start with the key, it only starts if I put a screwdriver on it.

I was always under the impression that ignition coils ran on dc, and that the cdi unit changes ac from the stator to dc for the coil, but you said it was ac to the coil so a bit confused.

Gonna try and unplug my red and black wire that goes to my stator for dc cdi hookup. Hope this helps me.

ghost in the machine.. i got a 2nd hand 2021 tiking 4 seater 200cc kart the other day. it was a crank no start, owner said the shop replaced the cdi a few weeks earlier and a few days after that it died. and he decided to sell it. for a 2021 it was mistreated i could tell every single bolt and nut was loose some hand tight loose.. the breather hose from box to carb gone the electric box cover gone and it was pouring down rain when i bought it..i tested the stator, and all was good but knowing what the kart been through i replaced it anyway. still no spark then i decided to put a new CDI in it and i had spark. then put plug in tried to crank nothing pulled plug no spark, tested the CDI it was blown now also. when i took the voltage Regulator off the mount i noticed the bottom was cracked bad. so im not sure where to go with it. but i noticed some weird stuff if i wiggle the key switch the dash lights and speedo meter flicker. also i went to measure the holes for a new tail/brake light with my digital gauge and it was going bonkers when i put it up near the electric box area something is shorting somewhere just not sure where to look..i have checked all grounds all are good now. i do have a new ignition/key switch coming and new CDI..any ideas?

I cant find a 6 wire voltage regulator for my 200cc gy6. it has the smaller CDI (AC) on it. i got this kart as a crank no fire. customer says the shop put a new CDI on it and it ran find then one day died while running. just going over the kart it has been abused and the techs sucked that worked on it . its only 2 years old and missing stuff.. bottom line is i cant find a 6 wire 2 plug AC volt reg...anybody know whats going on with this thing? or where to get the part?

This os all fine n dandy if youve got a150cc p.o.junk. i got a 250cc p.o.junk with a inverter /regulator. I got 3 yellow wires(hence 3 phase) on one plug coming out of engine that goes to the inv/reg and a 2 wire plug coming out of engine, ones a trigger or pulse (blu/wht) and the other is a ground. The cdi on mine gets power from the inverter regulator. The 3 yellow wires going to the inv/regulator are ac current but when they come out its a three wire plug green n red n black. Green n red go to cdi as 12volts. The black doesant go to anything. Im so damn sick of trying to find my info. I cant believe these chinee pump out a million of these junk bikes but not one manual

I have a new unrestricted naruka cdi box and i have a 2009 kymoc agility 49cc. My new cdi just keeps turning over when i try to start up the engine. Its all connected and the moped works fine with the old one. What am i doing wrong please do i need to bypass the ignition fro the engine

Some pick up have 2 wires, the blue/white and a green/white. What is that green/white wire for, it leads to the cdi next to the ground but it is not grounded to the chassis or to the battery neg cable, as it enters the cdi it exits the ground solid green wire via a resistence of about 1.6-ohms. So if you ever wanted to join these two wires as a single ground you will be doing so without the resistence of 1.6-ohms causing your pick up to fail. Any ideas?😮.... And the reason why you may want to join these two wires is so that you can use a DC cdi in place of an AC cdi in the case that your exciter windings burn out while on the road, instead of having to change your stator you can just use a DC cdi until you get home.???

This doesant help at all. The two plug on mine has the trigger wire on it and also I've got a inverter/ regulator that 3 yellow wires from the stator go to then a red comes out of it to power the CDI so obviously their not as alike as you say

I have a 2003 yerf dog rover 8400 with gy6 engine and a dc cdi. When I turn the key. I get one single spark. I can't remember if this happens when turing the key to ignition on or when cranking. I eventually gave up on it and put in an ac stator, dci, rectifier and it runs. The ignition system i put in it was for a gokart or something and the wiring harness is incorrect and short and would like to switch back to the dc system . It has a mikuni carb That I have cleaned extensively a couple of times. The engine has no power or speed. The idle speed used to slowly increase the lower it was running. I would need to decrease the idle speed to shift from R N F. Will adjusting the idle air mixture screw affect top speed and power? My second thought is the diaphragm and needle that is attached to it. I did not see any holes in the diaphragm. I dont recall if the needle is adjustable. Any ideas would be helpful. There was one suggestion that a missing ground was the cause for one spark..
