Why was it closed for 24 years. Hello from Casper Wyoming.
@tomorrowsadventure94717 ай бұрын
You know, I am not too sure, Ski Patrol and a couple locals all said it’s been decades, specifically 24 years. If I had to assume it’s because of liability issues with the resort. Old chief patrol used to open a lot of stuff skiers left on Chet’s dream. Some incidents happened and caused them to be sued. I am not sure if that’s the real reason. But it’s not due to snow coverage cause they’ve had some massive snow seasons where they could’ve opened before.

Biggest clue is to not look that them. When I first started learning trees, and in a way moguls, when you are doing through them don’t look at them, look at where you want to go. Trust that your skis, body movements, and brain will guide you through. Takes practice for sure.

It was so good. Keystone is probably a top 3 resort in Colorado. Might be a hot take, but it goes Crested butte, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, and then Vail, BC, then Breck. Need to get to Telluride. I think that’ll bump into the top 5 for sure.

Can you tell where the drop ins are to runs like Banana, Flatiron, etc? I've only done Peel and did not do the traverse but I'm curious to do it this spring
@tomorrowsadventure94719 ай бұрын
yea so either, you use the lower traverse under Silver Queen that cross Upper Forest, Peel, and into Flatiron, then you ski down about 20 feet and stay skiers left to find the next traverse into banana, and funnel. OR go up the High lift, and go skiers right at the top, go down banana high, careful of rocks here, and then use the banana high traverse to scoot around the couple cliffs/rock out crops.
@michaelbrichford28809 ай бұрын
@@tomorrowsadventure9471 That makes sense. I remember the traverse through Upper Forest so instead of dropping in, it sounds like you just proceed. Lower traverse sounds like a good starting point to explore the area and then I can always do the upper traverse on a subsequent run. I heard that one is sketchy. Also heard there's a good run just to the left of the mid High Lift line that takes you over into some nice chutes on the Headwall. Can't wait!

Sry if I'm late but I was wondering in you opinion just how hard are the windows? I'm an intermediate skier and I want to know if I should try them out.
@joshlatour38249 ай бұрын
I'm an early advanced skier and I just skied them the first time the other day. I'd say they weren't quite as challenging as I'd expected, but still very challenging with a lot of downed trees and rocks to avoid depending on the line you take. I'd recommend trying some easier trees like Uneva off Bergman express or Wolverine in the Outback to see how you feel before jumping into the windows.
@tomorrowsadventure94719 ай бұрын
Really depends on how comfortable you are in trees. I would work in a few other areas of the mountain like near/under Peru on the east side of A51. Or some trees off Outback like Wildcat and in between big horn and elk run. These are pretty consequential trees in the windows. A bit steeper and some places where you could get cliffed out. @joshlatour has some good tips
