Just a couple laps off of one of the passes in the Colorado Rocky's. I do not recommend this for anyone who is not an advanced/expert skier as this is not patrolled nor is it within a ski resort area. I have a avalanche beacon on my body during this just in case, although I planned decisions NOT to go into avalanche terrain. Going into the backcountry is inherently risky and as a backcountry user you need to be prepared and understand risk mitigation. I do not have AIRARE 1, but I have substantial experience in weather, snow science, and basic first aid. I am an Eagle Scout so I do have confidence on going out, BUT that would never stop me from turning around or not skiing if conditions warranted.
