Way too much gain. Let the tubes give you your breakup, not the pedal . I'm wondering if people in this comment section have ever actually heard SRV. Stevie wanted his rhythm tone as clean as possible using a Tube Screamer as a boost for solos. Late 80s he started using a Fuzz Face on certain rhythm parts adding color with the guitar's volume knob.

You need a strat, a classic fender tube amp cranked up to high hell, and some blues chops. Great video, but I would heavily emphasize the “this thing needs to be ear splitting” lmao. When I was a kid I thought it was all in the eq when in reality amp volume matters so much more. Those tubes need to cook.

Does the size of the amp (wattage) make a difference in the sound?
@Privateguitar3 ай бұрын
High wattage amps are great for a big clean tone. Higher headroom 😎

are u using pedals like tube screamer and compressor? cause u can't get SRV sound just by turning knobs on the amp, so please tell me what pedals are u using

The volume was on 5. Stevie would use Tubescreamer for solo boost.

So much more drive than my tone king imperial (deluxe reverb?) on 7. Did he have really hot pickups
@SeanOHanlon3 ай бұрын
The guitar was basically a "Partscaster" because the body was '63, the neck was '62, and the pickups were '59.

shame i dont have a reverb, is it necessary to have a reberb to get this sound?
@Privateguitar3 ай бұрын
@@alistar3051 Sometimes more reverb, other times less. It depends. Fender reverb is a staple of the classic blues sound 🎵🎸

Simply setting your EQ on your amp is not gonna make you sound like him no matter what you do. There is so much more to it.
@Privateguitar4 ай бұрын
I do think most people realize eq settings are only part of the equation 👍
@drock555512 ай бұрын
There is a lot more to it than amp settings, but it's a great first step. If your amp and pedals aren't setup right, you'll never get a good SRV tone.
