I owned the king of tone for a little while. It's a cool pedal but not a necessity. A pedal that will boost or add some gain is all I require. I'm pretty sure any pro musicians will agree. No one particular pedal is the holy grail. A good guitar and amp is much more important.

Personally speaking... if I had 1 amp and 1 pedal to bring to a blues, classic rock, or country gig, it would be a 60's blackface and a KOT. KOT is an extremely versatile tool with boost, overdrive, and distortion internal settings. I'm very happy to keep this pedal in my collection, and it is used quite often. It also sounds incredible through a 60's or 70's Marshall. Most of my pro friends tend to agree. It works very well with single coils, and humbuckers. Just my personal experience 🙂

Sounds amazing, even without the KOT. I've also never seen anyone else use that vox coiled cable. That is the strongest cable I've ever used. Been using mine since 2007 with no issues!

Such a rocking sound. That thickness is sick. I am getting one. Just bought a Jackson Dinky Ash off of Amazon for 217 and it sounds rad. I have an orange 8 with a micro dark terror head. This is wild. I also have a 92 Martin D-16/D/18 hereingbone acoustic that is my main. I also have a thinline tele. I am getting the dinky and thinline worked in this weekend by a buddy I play with in the church band. We have a blast!

Saw a pic of Jimi with an armload of his pedals. Looked like it was taken before or after a gig. The backstory was how he wasn’t as particular about his amps but he carried his pedals around. I think he would’ve Dug the KOT.

I had a G&L but only have Ibanez electric wise ...got out of hand with collecting, then working on them! I now play acoustic...mostly blues slide! I'll reach out for a lesson in future! Nice guitar

Only issue was whammy bar😧...but I put screw on each side of Floyd rose, disabling whammy and intonated and it's stayed in perfect tune.
