Exactly what i needed. Had this problem in my head after installing btf with remote. Which apparently i need a gateway to even use its app? Im hoping i can just connect the btf controller to wled through hotspot without gateway.

Penta mini arrived yesterday! Great build quality, love the connectors! WLED connected fine, etc. My initial project uses 24V BTF FCOB strips. IIRC, I saw some examples of settings for WLED but can't seem to find them. The link for examples does not seem to work. Looks promising so far since when I save the config, my strip attached to L3 out flashes when I save a config. Eventually would like to play with 3000K 4000K and 5000K strips attached to L3 L4 L5 for short under counter run. Will experiment when I have more time.

@@IntermitTech I realize the Home Assistant is the best way to get to my ultimate goal (blending / dimming / high resolution) but WLED is already in use. Your HW just keeps getting better!!! Even though I have dig quads, unos, etc. I just love the simplicity of Dig2Go! IMHO, PentaMini is yet another step forward with better HW! Look forward to reading your articles.

The hot swap problem. Several devices that can be hot swapped have connectors that first connect GND and maybe power, after that they connect the rest. Unfortunately, RJ45 is not such a connector, which means that Diff-Power's transmitter and receiver need to be able to handle all 8 combinations of GND, +48V and "RS-485" being connected or not connected between transmitter and receiver. I suspect it's just the combination of GND not being connected between transmitter and receiver and both +48V and "RS-485" being connected causing the RS-485 IC to break, but I could be wrong.
@IntermitTech
@IntermitTech 3 күн бұрын
Yeah, in part it is, but I already have a newer variant that only connects GND first and then actives positive 3 seconds later, when the connector is well seated already and it was still causing some issues. I've already itterated on that though and a new prototype is on it's way! Thank for comment though, always appreciate the insight!

I have places for some recessed lights in the ceiling, and I was always considering analoge LED strips for it. Unfortunately they are shorter runs with only power cables running to the lights, so a smaller controller with do. I was considering zigbee RGBCCT controller for it, but I would rather give the money to you instead :)

The 30 foot section worked great preinstalled in the diffuser on the workbench but when I installed it on the playroom ceiling BOOM! The leds Blinked uncontrollably & not all of them lit up. While troubleshooting I learned 2 things: 1. The data signal is weak beyond 25 feet and needs to be boosted. 2. When you use multiple large power supplies for power injection the 5 volt ground needs to be common. My solution was to: 1. Purchase the Quin Data Booster (they’re inexpensive so I bought 6 for future projects). 2. Common ground the 5 volt output. With this everything works great. The DigQuad has been awesome, I used it to test each section as I build them and it’s been flawless. I chose 5 volt 60 LEDs/meter because I am a newbie idiot. If I could do it over I’d go with a 12 volt system and not have to worry about power injection.

I started just with WLED and was frustrated that the LED behaved bad. Eventually I saw some article saying put a 240Ohm in DL; had none, but used 220Ohm. That worked. But you explained why. Thanks for that. Now I need to find my little digital oscilloscope and try to record the data myself. Anyway: subscribed …

Another excellent unboxing, never have too many LED strips, Question, in DJ and pro lighting, in RGB fixtures, the last few years instead of RGBWAUV, they have started putting a Lime diode in with the RGBW, do you think or have you heard if an rgb strip will ever incorporate a Lime diode, apparently it produces a much better pallette of whites and higher CRI figures, Thanks as always for the content.

Any guides on how to install these "bare naked" power supplies? You'd think they would need to be in some sort of box (at least in the US), but then I don't understand how the cooling is supposed to work. ?!
@IntermitTech
@IntermitTech 8 күн бұрын
Yeah generally it's best to have them out of reach, but you can have a box which has ventilation holes or some form of forced cooling. Some more popular models you can also 3D print guards for the AC side and such too.

Ha yeah, it's partly a problem. But I do have a decent sorting system! I sort by analog and digital. And then Analog by type (white or with RGB) and then digital just by voltage. They are all sorted and labelled in bins so if I need a certain strip to do a comparison (new vs old one bought, different type of strips, etc.) I can just grab it. It's growing though, running out of space to store it all. :P

Saw a couple of others discussing heat and that's my concern as well. The 332 strip would be ideal for the project I'm working on and I only need two strips less than a quarter meter. But it would be enclosed inside of transparent pla that starts to warp around 50-60 degrees C. I've measured the temp of a 160 strip I've got it it read around 39c. So does that mean the 332 strip would be around 78c, or does is the heat increase less than that when you double the leds? I would just get a strip and check myself and return it if it's too hot, but rule of thumb according to a lot of people is never return anything from Aliexpress.

Dude, I just want to say thank you for all the work that you've done. I just discovered QuinLED after purchasing a new home and wanting to get away from the traditional lighting style. Just wired up my DigUno-ESP32 and it works flawlessly. Also, I like how you didn't diffuse the LEDs behind you. I ordered the wrong diffuser when I ordered the LEDs and kept looking at the LEDs without it and they still look amazing. I might steal your look. lol
