Which format are you shooting in and which software are you trying to open it with?

@@BrettCarlsen Thanks for the response! XFAVC and Apples Finder, Quicktime and FCPX open the files as audio only. Davinci opens it just fine. I've updated "pro video formats" but still not working

Firmware! After updating the files open fine. Firmware notes don't mention anything about file type changes but it worked.

Well that’s good to know! I haven’t had time to download anything yet so glad to see there’s a fix already. Been slammed with work since I got it.

Hey! Love to hear all that. So first off I preordered the c400 and didn’t know the c80 would be released haha. But last time around I did the c70 (and not c300 iii) approach and it worked out really well. I still own two of them. Since then I’ve been doing a lot more commercial directing and DP jobs and think I need the extra IO and form factor of the C400. That being said. The C80 looks amazing! I have decided I’m going to keep my C70’s as B and C cams for now as I think I’d have a hard time selling them for a fair price to me/enough to outfit a C80. But if I had it my way and resources were unlimited I’d have a 400+80 just so everything matches etc.

​@@BrettCarlsen Totally agree on that. I'm not selling My C200. It's worth next to nothing but still works like charm. I think I'll go for a used C400 when someone sells it for a good price next year in Europe when Sony releases a next banger of a camera. Heheh. I'll go for the C400 because of the slow motion and other better things. P.S. Would you be so kind and create a video explaining and showcasing the C400 wireless video capabilities on an iPad? That would be great.

It’s the same one used for the c300 mark III/C500 mark II. Just got it and it mounts into the four holes on the rear of the camera. If you plan on using the stock top handle it is a pain if you want to take things apart as the entire plate has to be removed to get the handle off and on due to the smart shoe connection But otherwise works great. I’ll be using a bright tangerine top plate and their handle

Seconded. Was kind of fed up with the lack of new cinema camera from Canon. But this one is a perfect fit for me.

Haha. It is not cheap. I use mine for work and clients definitely want this level of camera and the rates justify it. The c80 will have SO many of the features for a good amount of savings though which is awesome

I don’t have a way to measure that sadly. But I’d say pretty light. It’s (as you can see in the video) pretty small compared to like an FX6 etc.

Oh man. I wish I could swing that haha. I’m tapped out this year. Sticking with my R3’s unless something crazy happens, which I can’t imagine it will. But I whole heartedly agree. I’ve liked the r5 mark II having more in depth video format menus. Meaning I can actually see what my bitrate is instead of vague quality wording etc. had to use it as a D cam recently. So the R1 will be pretty awesome for that.

@@BrettCarlsen Hmm the R52 is 45 MP... I think it will look like the R5C.. and even though its the same color profile it will look different because of the sharpness. Im currently running two C70´s for interviews and B roll (I freaking love those cameras) but they lack for some of the sport and event with many people in a crowd like big Marathons and stuff like that. then for photo i got the R3 like you.. amazing camera i love the Auto Flicker function for filming at construction sites where theres a lot of LED. (the clear scan cinema function is not always the best on R5C and C70 for removing that. And actually I also got an R5c for back when it came out and I was sure it would match up with the C70.. even asked canon and they were like - YEAH ofc its a great match.. But the sharpness difference was so big that I had clients mentioning it.. The R1 is not yet available in my country.. :) But when it is im thinking of selling alle four cameras and all my 8 EF lenses and just get the C400 + R1 + RF 15-35 f 2.8 + RF 24-105 f 2.8 and done deal, make it work with what i got there for Photo and video and also use the photo camera for B-cam in interviews.

I think your plan makes a lot of sense. Interesting they noticed a difference. I’ve only had the r5c on a few of my shoots and didn’t notice too much difference on those shoots. But it was often a seldom used angle (gimbal, C camera etc). I too have loved the double C70 combo. Have been struggling to find a buyer for either one so just going to stick with those for B and C cameras for now. The sensor read out on the r5 mark ii and R1 are significantly improved RE flicker at construction sites. R5 Mark II is on par with the R3 and the R1 is supposed to be SIGNIFICANTLY faster I’m told. But also just what I’ve been told as the R1 is about 2 months away here in the USA

@@BrettCarlsen I live in Denmark I was on a waiting list for the C70 and for the R5C, but if you are not they dont get that many home at a time because the country is smaller than an american city :P But anyways.. I cant just sell my gear :P I need the perfect timing a least.. im using the gear every day.. The seller im using for gear said they could du a trade in with the old equiptment if I was interested in that. But I need to see more from peoples experience of the two cameras.. and theres not much anywhere about them but the specs..

I completely understand. I too struggle with that. The early “reviews” by a lot of big KZbinrs are often just reading off the spec sheet. Which is fine. But not very helpful.

Yes I plan to. Honestly the system is so much more complex that I stopped while recording the other day.

I think there are some things that makes an R1 better than an R3, but I agree with your decision completely. I’m sticking with my R3’s and that’s the first time I’ve done that. I’ve always upgraded when a new 1d etc came out. But holding off on these for now. You’re going to love the R3!
