I think this video is 2 years old at this point but I just found it and honestly, this is one of the best explanations of "simple" edits I have found anywhere! Thank you for this! I love how you went into detail about why you do what you do instead of just saying "I like to do this" and then do it. Also, that trick about changing the grid when cropping, amazing! I have been using Lightroom for YEARS and never knew you could do that!

This video showed me how little I actually know about editing my football stuff lol I have never used light room so I was a little lost, but thats ok. I am not sure if we will even have sports again out my way. Even the NFL got kicked out of town. Still waiting for Canon to get some mirrorless stuff in stock. Thanks for sharing.
@BrettCarlsen4 жыл бұрын
Very welcome! Hope this helps you test out lightroom and try something new. Call MPEX in Columbus Ohio. My salesperson there is Sonnie but they posted they had R5/R6 in stock the other day. Hopefully they still have some. (This is not sponsored, it’s just where I’ve bought mine and I really like dealing with them)

Hey Brett. I really appreciate your video tutorials. My 60D bit the dust and I am enjoying my new R6. Have you ever shot a wrestling tournament with bright orange mats, orange uniforms and crappy crazy light? I am bringing my grey card for custom wb but I still have trouble with the color cast on their skin. Thanks again! Your tutorials on the focus and customization buttons are the best. Christy

I custom tweak my sports photos and use “copy” in the Develop module if the next photo is from the same burst.

Yes. You can also grab the first one and then sync it to the others which is nice. Or grab a bunch and turn on auto sync and they will all sync up as you go

Super awesome. I so wish I could shoot at iso 5000 during a night game. I am shooting iso 9000 to 12500 at F2.8 at 1/800 to 1/1000 of a second for high school football
@be-do-have2 жыл бұрын
I wonder what your ISO is for the night pictures? I have a cropped camera and my ISO maxes out at 8000, but I never took pictures at night either. Thanks!
@BrettCarlsen2 жыл бұрын
At nice stadiums you don’t need much more than that. At high school sports you need more. So maybe 4,000-8,000

What lens do u use for the games & how many cameras??
@BrettCarlsen3 жыл бұрын
A mixture. I use a 600mm and 300mm on two of my cameras then a wide angle on a third body.
@adventuresofsteveandlaurie4 жыл бұрын
What telephoto lens do you normally use when shooting football?
@BrettCarlsen4 жыл бұрын
It changes. This year due to covid I’m exclusively using my 600mm f4 IS III with a combination of teleconverters as needed. Normally I use 600 on one body and 300 on the other. Of course I always have a wider setup around my neck too. Many people use a 400 2.8 or 200-400 f4 (with the TC built in). A bit subjective but you really need at least a 400 for good football pictures.
@adventuresofsteveandlaurie4 жыл бұрын
@@BrettCarlsen thanks, I use my 70-200 for high school football... it’s great when you’re at the right end of the field! 😂. Nice pick of Allen by the way #GoBills
@BrettCarlsen4 жыл бұрын
Haha yes. The 70-200 is good for when they are scoring in front of you. But not much use for downfield things. Thank you!
@bryang48563 жыл бұрын
@@adventuresofsteveandlaurie For daytime games and for budgetary reasons, pop a 1.4x or 2x TC on there :)
@myrarenee87653 жыл бұрын
How do you blur the background like that?
@BrettCarlsen3 жыл бұрын
Use a telephoto lens with a large aperture. That was taken with a Canon 600mm f4
