as someone who is a total beginner at 50yrs old, having never fired a handgun until a few months ago, I really appreciate you taking the time to fully describe this process. the attention to detail and calm and collected way in which you do it is absolutely a godsend to my ADHD mind. i just totally broke down my ruger "night watchmen" edition using this vid, and mission accomplished, thanks to your help! i salute you, good sir!

He reminds me of my father who was first an aircraft mechanic and then a rifle instructor in the Marine Corp in the 50's. He taught me you need just one drop of oil to clean a gun. He also told me boot camp stories where the sergeant disassembled his gun, threw the parts in the sand, then yelled asking why his gun was dirty. Then commanded him, "You have one minute to clean that gun and put it back together". If he used more than one drop of oil he was punished with added exercise & picking up cigarette butts.

This is not good advice. This guy has done this for years. If you clean every time you shoot and only shoot a few rounds this will work. That mini 14 will not shoot 100 rds the way he lubes it. Mineral oil is better than no oil. But it’s not better than any oil. He just gives lectures with 1970 knowledge.

This video finally reveals how much of the safety is forward of the trigger guard when it's "ON". There's plenty there for someone worried about this "problem" to manufacture an attachment that stick across the front of the trigger guard and utside it so the right forefinger can push it off. For design, think "similar" to the hammer attachment Uncle Mike's sold for Marling lever actions with a scope on them. You attach it to the hammer and it sticks out the side. Been thinking about the Mini-14 lately as I live in a restricted state, and the safety looks good to me.

a 336 and 444 are not marlins they are cheap out guns to cut costs, the real marlin 1893 is comparable to the win 94. the others are a modern joke like most of this cheap crap built today.

How do you store your rag?
@earlwithmore906518 сағат бұрын
An instructor said with it comes to lube / oils, "wipe all parts down thoroughly with a lightly oiled cotton rag”. He also states with it comes to oiling your gun, "less is best, it will not attract an excessive amount of dust / dirt". He continues to goon about the action / moving parts. He goes into it deeper, but this fits your video. Very good info, and video. Thanks for sharing.

Hi gun blue my name is Dustin Lang i'm from Eagan Minnesota. I was active duty in the Air Force five years. I finished my MP career got out found myself doing antique collectibles and found myself getting into an online auction site. I was curious how you would display a large amount of the antique Barbie dolls from 1970s in the bags from those McDonald happy meals would you sell those all as one roughly around 40 I would say Thank you very much

Age, plus military service, plus LEO experience, plus professional training, plus a lifetime of dealing with firearm's makes for a patient, wise and delightful voice of experience. I consider other opinions but always check them with his. (Yeah, I love Hoppes too, bought my first bottle in 1964!)

Do you advise against using a tiny bit of red and tacky on metal to metal contact zones?
@danblumelКүн бұрын
At least for hunting, if you want to switch to monolithic (copper) bullets after having shot traditional jacketed bullets. It is often if not always necessary for accuracy to remove the copper jacketing residue from the barrel.

You can use baby oil in place of mineral oil. It is mineral oil filtered and perfumed. For some reason it is cheaper than mineral oil in most stores. Your rifle will smell like a clean baby, but that is okay. A different smell than Hoppes for sure.

I have a Model 10 Victory that belonged to my father a B29 pilot in WWII . The barrel is pinned and has rotated a degree or two counterclockwise when observed from the rear sight line. Can the barrel be rotated back to alignment without removing the pin? The misalignment also affects the cylinder lock position on the barrel by about a quarter the diameter of the lock. The cylinder is also hard to close but does appear to have any issues you mentioned. The serial number is in the 400 thousands and has no hammer lock or hand spring is this common for this vintage?

Could you grease these threaded locations with a good quality grease if you didn't have LSA? LSA is not easy to come by at the moment. I do have weapons grease that claims a very large temperature range.

NOT CONCERNED, PERIOD! Clean the metal , as Gun blue says...., and if your freaking out..., just put a tiny dab of " JB COMPOUND", Which Crabby ole Gun Writer , David Petzel uses. One Competition shooter , cleans his rifle, EVERY 200 SHOTS, PERIOD! Its all about Marketing, selling products. Use Mineral spirits or Good ole Frank Hoppes # 9

I picked one up this week, 2nd gun purchase and both are Ruger revolvers. First one the Ruger New Model Blackhawk 5.5" 44 Mag that was even magna ported, and the 2nd one the Ruger Redhawk 7.5" 44 Magnum (BTW has already been tuned up)... one can never go wrong owning Rugers for the strength and durability... Ruger Customer Service is bar none the best.

A suppressor adapter is avialable for the threaded barrel. I have the Colt Gold Cup Trophy version of this gun and have the adapter. I fire it suppressed using a Sparrow 22 from Silencerco. The suppressor adaptor complicates the breakdown procedure slightly because the adapter will not pass through the barrel bushing. The adapter replaces the small piece that holds the tube around the barrel. Excellent breakdown video; thanks for sharing.

"Pray for our country." Looking back 4 years now, it's still true. We need more Prayer. Hopefully we'll get the ship turned around soon. Thank you sir! I got a 6.5CM because the shop didn't have a .243Win. I've been very pleased with how easily I've taken deer out to 300yds. As I reload more, I wish it had a 24" or 26" barrel to give me some better powder options than what I have with its 22" barrel. However, minimal upgrades and I'm close to 1/4moa at 100yds, and if I do my part it can do 1/2moa at 300yds pretty regular. What I like most is that it is just as fun to target shoot as it is to hunt with. It prefers 135gr bullets at ~2600 to 2700fps. I'm also glad the shop didn't have a 243Win because of barrel life. I've done some 243 loading for family and most of their older rifles' best is 2 to 3moa. The barrels have just seen better days. Still great hunters, but I'm a happy customer.

I’ve had mine since 1972. Squirrels fear it. A bore snake and a judicious application of Ballistol for a CLP, as described, is all that’s needed. I do prefer the smell of Hoppes, though. Nice job on the disassembly/reassembly. A fellow 25th ID…1966-67.
