You all must remember Most insects in the garden, are beneficial to the garden!! Also according to someone who recited a more scientific study, the coffee scraps hurt earthworms too , which is bad for the garden 🐛🐛🐛🤐 Go green Andrew mentions the shredded cardboard with the coffee can reduce the problem of harming the earthworms

Another place to purchase plants if one near you is a college that has an Agrigultural resource/degree program. In some cases it supports the Ag department in which the students participate and may have a Nursery on site and even may have an interactive association with a professional who supplies hands on opportunities for students under the supervision of the college professor. I recently purchased a very nice Blackberry plant that was 9" tall and in a 4" x 4" plastic container from such a college.

My hubby loves it when I say, honey, you did that. Last summer we had an abundance of tomatoes and peppers. We ate, we canned and we roasted peppers and tomatoes along with beetroot and greens etc. We share with friend that loves to fish. We had problems with brussel sprouts even though we staked them. Soil not heavy enough to support and they were attacked by aphids. Fall brussel sprouts got a hot spell. Hubby was too exhausted, I guess. Things get mixed up when two people are trying to drive the same car. lol. Praying for the best and prepping for the worse this season too. We all get charged up in the garden. Best regards.

Thanks for sharing... Which way do you prefer? Compost tumbler or compost pile ?
@MrSubielove
@MrSubielove 3 күн бұрын
@Greentgarden honestly i prefer to do it like what you have done here. Thought its not really a compose yet in my opinion, but I believe its a better route to take that having a compose bin and having to be concern of rats getting in the bin or trying to get inside it. which is the problem I have now. It is why i am ended up looking at this video. I am thinking, doing this, mixing it with soil to complete the process, and add the soil into the bin with my grass clippings. Then once i get more volume I will use it to level my yard every year 😂.

Can I boil my kitchen scraps & then put in composter ? I used to do that when we used to compost just on the floor ( ground )
@Greentgarden
@Greentgarden 5 күн бұрын
So I never boil it, but if you boil it most of the nutrients will release into the water and yes use as it composts after... I do make compost piles on the ground too it works good ..

Pruning is a weird thing I pruned a tomato plant once and had a identical plant next to it untouched out performed the pruned one by ten times so I don't prune tomatoes anymore but soil has a ton to do with how the plant develops for example I live 1k elevation in native quartssand the plants grow slower and smaller but when they fruit it's astronomical but with Comercial high nitrogen compost light soil the plants grow fast big and strong but they fruit very weak compared to the native soil but it's packed with Micros and I get crazy yealds.

I normally fill the bottom with logs , dry leaves or grass with kitchen scraps as well ... Then I would do 50:50 mix of top soil and potting mix .. you could always mix your compost or fertilizer in too ..

You may be using seeds that you collected from pumpkins you purchased, and these will be engineered (by Monsanto and the like) to not produce female flowers. They are doing it to all vegetables, so you cannot grow from your own collected seeds, you have to buy theirs.
