Fantastic intonation which is fiendishly difficult when performing Bartok, especially on viola. A strong understanding of the entire piece of music which is very convincing. Great passion without abusing the piece. Technically strong. The pianist fully understands the dynamic limits imposed when accompanying viola though does take a few opportunities to introduce the piano's role more aggressively. Overall, I think the pianist is taking great pains to accompany and provide color and texture rather than be some equal participant in the performance at any point. The microphone solution, the recording solution and the mastering are well done for a viola soloist. Also, and most importantly, the pianist provides the theoretical proof for the piece relieving the soloist of some of that task which frees the soloist to be much more expressive.
