Cool rig, nice hat and vid, but does your firewood and starter need to be packed in plastic? Come on, a manly man like you should know how to start a fire without zippo lighters and gadgets. Keep up the good work! 💪👌

285/75/16 - with a two inch lift. There's a tiny but of scrubbing at full lock but otherwise they are great. I loved the pizza cutters it came with, but these are much better.

This is awsome! The preparations, editing, and cooking for sure! Thanks for sharing your experience. This monster can take you waaaay further. When I read Wadi, I thought it'll look like one of those wadis we have in Yemen. Hopefully things cool down in my home land then you can pay'm a visit and enjoy riding and camping there.

Thanks Waleed! I would absolutely love to drive through Yemen one day. I visited Sana'a three times in the 2000s, some of the best work trips I've ever done. Fascinating country. A holiday in Yemen has been on my wish list for years. As you say, let's hope things improve.

I go on solo trips a lot- I love it! Great video! I am building a Troopy as we speak. Are the round “hoops” on the left rear corner to be used as ladder steps? If so, I would love to know where you get them. That is a great way to do it without mounting a full ladder that limits accessibility to the window.
@christophersaul Жыл бұрын
Hi John. Good luck with your build. Where are you based? The hoops come as standard (for some reason) with most Troopies and some Land Cruiser and 70 series variants in the GCC (Gulf region). It's one of those odd regional things. For example, it's normal to see them on most of the Land Cruiser 100 series that were sold in Saudi in the 2000s, but we never got them in the UAE. I do use them occasionally - mainly to attach a light to or hook my awning onto when it's windy :) If I had a roof rack they would definitely be handy to use to haul yourself up to stand on the bumper, but I'm not sure how useful they are as an actual ladder!

Do you build the the hand pump on the jerry can by yourself?
@christophersaul Жыл бұрын
The garage I used did it. It's pretty straightforward, although I think I'll be building a tap into the base on the jerry can, it makes washing hands much easier. When I do that, I may replace the pump with a soap dispenser.

@christophersaul2 жыл бұрын
BFG 285/75/r16, two inch lift with Dobinsin springs. No second filter, not really needed in the GCC. Serviced every 5k, changing what’s needed. If you search for Geoff the Troopy you’ll find a full review done with Expedition Extreme.

@Goughwaltersgopro2 жыл бұрын
We have lots of fuel stations in the region, so you are rarely far from one. Also, the Troopy has huge fuel tanks so the indicated low level still has plenty of range!
@christophersaul2 жыл бұрын
I was wondering who’s pick up on that :) As Griff says, it’s hard to get really remote in the UAE, plus the Troopy has two 90l diesel tanks, so at that level at least another 150kms to go.

@@christophersaul thanks, thought it was only the petrol variants sold there
@christophersaul2 жыл бұрын
@@Coastmac2001 We are lucky here - we can also still get new Y61s as well. The Toyota dealer only sells the petrol versions of the 70 series, but they don’t sell the Troopy and it’s difficult to register the pick up and the double cab as a private individual. Everything else is available as grey imports, although I don’t think the SWB 71 comes with anything other than petrol. A v8 in a 71 would be unstoppable!

Take off the cover from the fridge. It’s cooling with less energy, because the fan is blowing the heat in the cover…. We tested it and it surprised us also! Greetings from Belgium
@christophersaul2 жыл бұрын
That's interesting! It's a pain to remove the fridge and test properly myself, but if I ever have to take it out for some reason I might give that a try. I suppose I could also stick the cover down around the fan to avoid hot air blowing under the cover.
