I can only imagine the frustrating of feeling like you've lost art as a creative outlet in this way.. But art is more than the end results and it looking perfect. Picasso's series off works towards his later stages of life suffering from Alzheimer's are a perfect example of this. I imagine it's not easy to accept but to let go the idea of what your art was and try to find beauty in the "imperfect" art you are able to create, use the frustration and let it out in your art.. don't be ashamed of expressing negative emotions nore of your final product. The end product isn't always what makes art beautiful its often the journey it took somebody to get there. You could also look for inspiration from people like Picasso and create a on going series of artworks.. maybe doing self portraits and over time you'll be able to see your coordination and art works "improving" over time as you regain your strength.

Not only is it something to do. But doesnt it somewhat help with your finer motor skills as well? Even if not as much hand movement as drawing amd such?

A lady I worked with had a bling leg. It had a metal etched and lazer cut sheath over it. Looked epic. She called it her going out leg.

I would invest in a tablet, not saying don't work on it cos obviously continuing to heal matters but some of the additional tools given with digital art allowing you to set a boundary you cant actually colour outside of would perhaps allow you to set aside art for theraputic and fun outlet, and then art for improving on the co-ordination and shakes as 2 seperate things over time.

Part of me looking at that and thinks that looks so scary. Not because of The uncanny valley hypothesis. But because of how exposed it all looks and how I would so accidentally break it by having something sticking into it and snapping it.

Hi Jo, I’m so glad just to see you up and about. Scary stuff. It’s weird I should be so concerned about someone I don’t know, maybe it’s just the “Dad-reflex” kicking in, but keep clawing ahead!!!! Seeing you happy is a great comfort for us amputees that sometimes struggle.

I keep getting ambushed by people I watch who usually have nothing to do with crochet starting to crochet and me not recognizing it's them and thinking it's KZbin throwing more crochet content at me

In Germany they are kind of the default, I can't tell if your forarm shell is wobbly or stays in place. id prefer the fixed forarm shells, and if they are to wide, the place you got them might be able to heatform them smaler or glue an somthing in, padding or something to reduce play.

It's always such a joy to find that someone I follow on KZbin has started crocheting! I had no idea it could help someone recover from a stroke, that's really cool! Yet another benefit of crochet.

I'm 9 years RAKA.suction. mine is a lot different. The sleeve is inside and only goes as far as the socket. Nothing outside the shell. Also Canada, so none of those supply issues you guys have. I am active on a facebook group, so you help me see some differences to help others with issues, and I thank you for that, Jo. I see now the hole in sleeve issue so common with some below knee. All around above knee seems barely any issues in comparison, except of course learning and using a fake knee. Not competition, lol. But the shape of the thigh, only one bone, and the buttocks as a stopper and to take some weight, liner bending at knee, pinching behind knee. Anyway, I ramble Hi.

I actually use crochet and knitting as a distraction from my chronic pain, it had been a big help! Plus it feels good to have something to show at the end. I usually give away the hats I make to my oncologist office so that cancer patients losing their hair have something cute to wear! A lot of hospitals will also take hats and blankets too
