Good morning, thank you for sharing the process, congratulations on your work. Could you share with us the grades used to cut?

Beautiful instrument I think a 14”-16” depth on the bass drum would make it even better.

Very impressive and precise work and craftsmanship. Most congas are built using the cooperage technique with steam-bent wood staves or sections. Now there are craftsmen cutting the curve into each stave to avoid having to steam-bend which probably makes the drum stronger. Your approach is something totally new to constructing congas. What made you decide on this technique? Thank you for posting!

Nice natural shape of the wood, not steam bent. And, Check out Moperc drums, less pieces less glue.

I never realized how many tasks were needed to hnd make a conga drum. I enjoyed watching the process. I am the owner of two hand made drums by Jay Bereck of Skin on Skin, formerly in Brooklyn. I bought these drums in 2001. They have been a joy to play these last twenty two years. He signed his name in English, and then he also signe his Hebrew name.

Really cool looking drums. I'm a professional furniture maker and semi pro percussionist.....always wanted to make some congas. Love the unique design and approach, great use of small pieces of timber. Inspired me!!

I would love to be the proud owner of a set of these drums. They look amazing amazing. However after seeing the quality of the craftsmanship that goes into making them, I'm sure they are beyond my means. I just took it for granted that everything was made in a huge factory.

I was blessed to order and have ownership of these beauties....the sound is awesome and I can't wait to play them on stage. Kevin Brown of Rhythym House Drums is one of the true craftsmen practicing the drum making craft....especially on the East Coast....I'm blessed.....

Nice, i suggest to add less reverb next time. The djembe is perfect in open air, and has to be dry in my opinion. Thank you
@Rhythmhousedrums6 жыл бұрын
reverendobrown75 thanks for the comment, no reverb added... I'm playing with a large building in front of me and my shop off to the side... the echo is natural. Some of my most inspirational djembefola play drums that I consider opposite of dry... but I do like the sound of a dry drum as well.

@bassai2010 Thanks for the compliment. I build these drums here in the US from local woods and also build custom. My playing is anything but great. Check out Adama Drame - he's my favorite solo artist. If you haven't heard of Famoudou Konate, check him out as well... One of the best!

@Infiengham I can get them for you, They come pre-molded for 13, 14, and 15inch djembe heads. The fit and heading is very important to be correct in order to make them sound as natural as possible. Let me know if you are interested in a vegan drum! :)
