It turned out beautifully! I’m curious about why you hand stitched the sleeves back in? Also, I’d like to turn a cashmere sweater into a cardigan for my 6 year old daughter. Can I dye it? Will the warm water shrink it?

I was wondering where you were hiding! Nothing wrong with taking some much-needed Me Time. This is such a wonderful idea. Maybe you can publicize the charity you're going to do the sewing for and some us can join you. I volunteer at a local dog shelter and I try to make a dog jacket at least once a month. So many dogs come in and have to be shaved; they need the warmth. You are such a caring and talented woman that this is the next logical step in your meaningful way of sharing your many, many gifts. I think you're terrific!

I just finished my 3rd one of these this week. It was for my daughter who is really loving these. These are so unique. I just wanted to say I don’t think I could have completed it without your video, especially when it came to the buttonhole placement but there were other things as well. I tend to have problems understanding pattern instructions. So thank you. It has been fun making something for my daughter that she likes. Update: I am working on the 4th one for my daughter. I just discovered a huge timesaver and sanity saver is to sew the buttonholes onto the front leg and panel piece before attaching it to the rest of the skirt. It cut the time in half and I didn’t have near as much trouble “fighting” with all the fabric from the back piece.

Same here. But my hubby's was more intricated knitted so I went bold... I washed It in hot water so I knew it'll get smaller, It worked so all I had to do later was just the front part where I cut and place some buttons

I sewed this following along with your video. I used cotton canvas like you did and really love that fabric. It is not something that I would have even thought of using for clothes before you mentioned it so thank you.

Well done, Marie! BTW, how do you protect yourself from larger channels stealing your patterns? Have you encountered this? They take 98% of the sewing pattern you designed & put out on KZbin, change 2%, & then do a video of it as if it is their own to promote themselves. Their version is usually a rushed knock off they'd never wear, but the audience doesn't know that. This has happened to me with my refashioned garments. Maybe Patreon? - at least we get paid & it's a little protection from lazy stealers!

Greetings, Marie, from Scotland in the UK. I am a beginner sewist and love it so much. I only found you a few months ago, but have learned so very much from you and from your gentle style. I am really interested in garment making but will also enjoy watching you make other items too, especially items for animal shelters, so looking forward to that. Have a lovely Christmas. Kind regards, Jill

I absolutely love the idea that you've come up with as a change in focus for your channel! Funnily enough, I'd just been talking on the phone with my parents earlier in the day about doing some charity sewing so your announcement was very timely. Happy holidays and see you in 2025!

I wish I could see all the beautiful sewing machines behind you. I know they have been refinished. Do they all still work? Those old sewing machines are ART. Thank you for saving them. Please have a safe and happy Holiday. My sewing friend sent me this video. I like what I hear and see so far; so, I subscribed. Not all charitable organizations are what they claim to be.

Sounds great. I learned about Dress a Girl International too late for this past September. Since then I have made 9 dresses. It is also a great way to use my mountains of scraps. Wish I could see the little girls who will wear them. Have a great Christmas….it is our busiest time…we are a Santa and Mrs Claus.

I sell wool for sewing and wool crafts. A customer just asked about making wool pants for her 10 month old. Do you know of any patterns for babies? Is wool a good fabric for babies?
@mybucoliclife29 күн бұрын
I'm not really familiar with baby patterns, but I'm thinking wool may be a bit harsh unless it is the softest merino or something like that. :)
