Def do not need to remove the chassis and the reverb tank. You can see there is plenty of space to both loosen the screws and manipulate the speaker to a position where you can remove it. Maybe I'm missing something but this seems like overkill.

The Tube 15 has a cold clipper that the Vox (and Fender) do NOT have so it should break up sooner with a more gritty sound, as it does. Also, the Vox has a much bigger box and it would be interesting to have made the comparison with the same speaker. It would be interesting to see if you can get a Vox tone from the Fender Blues Jr since both do not have a cold clipper, the same speaker might help.
@PeteBasel
@PeteBasel 4 күн бұрын
Your observations are very interesting. The Tube 15, while having a tone stack and power amp copied from the Fender Bassman, has a later Marshall style "cold clipper" in the preamp and therefore it should break up with a Marshall type sound. Let's also remember that the very early Marshall amps were a copy (near exact) of the Fender Bassman but with British tubes and transformers. There's a lot of good stuff in that Tube 15. The schematics that I looked at were for the Laney LC15, but many believe that it, the Tube 15 and the Monoprice are the same, I'm not sure but your test seems to support the cold clipper. Amazing what you can get for such an excellent price.

I’ve been considering the Fillmore 25 recently. I have the blonde deluxe reverb tonemaster as well as the tonemaster super reverb. They are the perfect amp for a working musician. Lightweight, simple and powerful. I also have a 68 drip edge super, and a 66 deluxe reverb. I rarely play the vintage amps because the tonemasters just work. 🤷‍♂️

This is so awesome to hear a direct sound comparison between a well aged set of flat wounds and the tone of the new tape wounds. I have set several of my customers arch top guitars up with them in the past and was impressed with their tone and feel, the drawback being the volume decreasing, but that’s easily compensated for. This shows how well they compare and might ease the mind of players who are worried about losing their warm sound if they change out the aged flats. 👍🤙🖖

I totally get the comments here about Daro guitars being expensive, but we're talking about "Boutique" guitars, which means we're talking about so much more than just a quality instrument: uniqueness, attention to detail, LOVE, craftsmanship... and the list goes on! 3000ish priced guitars will definetely not be for anyone, but truly for someone who really appreciates what having a custom build boutique instrument really means. Way to go Buddah and Daro! What a treat guys!!!!!

Velvet fuzz with a Coca Cola symbol is a good clone of the fuzz factory…. For $100 instead of $400+ ….But the wires and electronics inside are so delicate i dont think it would hold up for some ppl they are all such stiff wires i nearly broke mine opening it up to see if there was a place to put a battery but sadly they dont have 9 v onboard just a ac adapter…….ps using an almost dead 9v in a body ds 1 is amazing Velcro sound one of our shows had that guitar tone could have been the best technical difficulty ever

As nylon strings weren’t developed until 1948, the simple answer is no. I’m also fairly certain they weren’t using gut strings, which were used in classical guitars prior to nylon - it was expensive, didn’t last long, held tuning poorly, and would not work with pickups. I don’t know about other guitarists, but Charlie Christian used Monel strings (an alloy of nickel and copper), which were very common at the time
