It's highly ironic that the debt ceiling debacle and the ensuing US debt downgrade marked the botton for the dollar index around 72, a point or so higher than the low in 2008 on the Bear Stearns collapse. The dollar has been higher ever since, all the way to 2024. So this event was maximum negative dollar sentiment and then the big boys took it up and gold down once it reached $1923 a month after this interview. It probably illustrates that publicly announced fundamentals are often contrary indicators. Jim sadly never lived to see this current run to $2700 but he did see $2000.

Isn't it ironic that gold had to clear $1600 40² and $1764 42² yet again in 2023 and this was the start of the run to $2650? The equivalent this time in 2024 might be 46² or $2116. Once cleared, it was at $2650 very soon afterwards.

I once heard an audio interview with Jim Sinclair who was of course a prime gold player in the 1970s.
