I studied economics in college during the late 60s and was taught that true wealth was land and the minerals under it, period.
@entanglemententropy62272 жыл бұрын
Yes that it sounds reasoning. Just keep in mind that land and mineral rights both of significant counter party risk.
@JM-si8xr2 жыл бұрын
Land has property tax in USA so this is not a true asset because of the liability. Minerals in the ground have no value until they are extracted and purified which may be more expensive than the income from sales of the extracted minerals depending on the concentrations and the cost to extract.

I've learned that true wealth is having politicians on video doing dastardly deeds.
@fgb31262 жыл бұрын
I've heard that true wealth is health and also the ability to have a skill set that is always in demand via work. And that latter yields gold (true money).
@01menyou2 жыл бұрын
Not true. Real wealth is owning the land and minerals under it. Property rights have been destroyed, you only discover this when you try to defend it. The current governnents across the westernised world can take anything from anyone with little worry of resistance.

Wonderful tone, here... The hyperbole of 'Goldbugs' is fatiguing. So, I greatly enjoy when Mr. James Turk speaks with humility and a softer tone. My financial positions (though on a much, much smaller scale, I'm quite sure) closely align with those advocated by Mr. McCloud & Mr. Turk.

Thank you Alasdair & James for an interesting discussion. According to some technical analysis I watched the other day, the U.S. 10 yr treasury historical data shows the U.S. treasury market may cause a very serious market crash for the stock market & others with a yield in the range of 3.25 to 3.5%. Some precious metals analysts believe we will reach this yield within 3 to 6 months. The point made in a discussion is even if the federal reserve increases their rate by only 25 bps at each meeting, that increase will have a magnified increase by the mechanism of the bond market. I look forward to your future articles & discussions.

Mario at maneco64 is looking at that external peak on the chart at 3.15% in 2018-2019. The nobody special finance guy was looking at lower figures that have already been passed but he has a great chart. Then there is the MMRI and MMMRI. Originated by Greg Mannarino and modofied by the NSF guy mentioned above. His chart of the 10yr yield has the yield around 2.75 from last week as hitting the 200 week moving average on the nose and already broken above the major downtrend resistance line going back 30 years.

Looking at the situation of the Great Depression, life was very difficult for many! People better get ready because what will happen soon will be much worse than the 30s. To me, listening to all of these videos and reading the comments, I believe most don't truly grasp the gravity of what is coming. I remember the stories and they were brutal. I can't even imagine what is coming and it will be coming soon!

@@c.san.8751 I was trying to have an exchange, maybe not exactly a conversation, I wouldn't presume that much from people on utube but maybe jog up a bit of a comment from someone who might like to rabbit on. The Great Depression was a very distant thing for us Irish- we were just after independence, (and a horrible civil war) on a project to construct our country and many who left for the States in the 20s and 30s were glad to get there no matter how bad the US was then.
@c.san.87512 жыл бұрын
@@james6401 History rhymes. It was bad, really bad. Now, there is significantly more debt in the system, the banks are incestuously connected all over the world. This time it will be global, couple that with enormous food shortages. Many millions or more will starve. Study up on the Great Depression for your own sake. Read The Fourth Turning by Strauss and Howe to understand cycles and why they repeat. Read The Creature of Jekyll Island - by G. Edward Griffin to understand the level of deceit, criminality and corruption that will ultimately bring back feudalism on a global scale and reduce us to Serfs. If you are from Ireland, then you know exactly what I speak of. It is why so many Irish abandoned Ireland in the 1840-50s to come to the USA and Canada and really why so many left in the 20s and 30s. People need to realize that there is strength in numbers. Freedom began with Magna Carta and was enshrined in the US Constitution. It is about to be lost.

The amazing thing to me james is that silver will be more valuable than gold and will be 1 to 1 with gold in the near future. All gold has been accounted for and most silver is in the garbage dump. Along with the industrial aspects that are many times forgotten.

Gold and silver and copper and etc are true assets because they have intrinsic value that is with their use in manufacturing process to produce goods that people need or desire. They are true assets because they have no liabilities and always have value. Cryptocurrencies need energy to exist therefore have a liability as well as have no intrinsic value because they are not used in manufacturing. Cryptocurrencies are a bet like stocks and may be profitable but may also be worthless. Gold and silver are never worthless.

In my opinion crypto currency is the same as FIAT “money”!!! Speculative, volatile, and Intrinsic value of 0!!! Just think: You are selling your house, the asking price is 500K. You have two offers: first buyer offers you cryptos for 500K, that you can NOT hold in your hands and second buyer offers you suit case of shiny ✨, beautiful gold coins ! Which form of money you gonna accept?! This one is NOT brainer for me 👌

@@thetruth9210 Well, first of all the USA couldn't declare war if it wanted to. It is broke. That is one reason why it hasn't gone into Ukraine and it is the reason why it will not defend Taiwan. Second, there has not been an audit in over 60 years and they have fought it tooth and nail because the gold is gone. Has been for a very long time. I believe by the end of Bush 1 and Clinton's first term actually. China and Russia both have staggering amounts. India may only have 800 tons but the Indian people have more gold per capita than anyone on the planet by a long shot.

Corruption, corruption, corruption. It has nothing to do with "coming to their senses". Nothing to do with making sense, either. It is all about enriching themselves. They're not going to come of this merry-go-round, until they are forcibly flung off at high speed during a runaway inflation.

How does China keep buying gold and wheat when their own economy is in trouble? Is it because they are just using debt/U.S. bonds to purchase with?
@chrischong62112 жыл бұрын
Debt based economy is a Ponzi as debt is also asset and can't be reduced or the economy shrink. For the world to return to sustainable growth path, debt must be brought down to the right level by the market. Central banks have artificially kept the debt from going down to the right level. When debt reset down to the right level, all the other assets like stocks and properties will also reset down in price. If we don't want the money to go to money heaven, it has to move somewhere and it cannot move to all commodities as it will cause inflation. The only way is for money to move to a few commodities to preserve wealth without causing harmful inflation.
