Thanks! I had a general idea of deck removal but your video zeroed me in on how to do this one & then connecting it back up. Seeing it done makes it much easier than trying to written instructions from the owner's manual.

What's the easiest way to lay the tractor over on it's side? Darn thing is heavy.
@yourpro36534 ай бұрын
@@ChpTrxtr yeah the John Deere's are tough because they are really heavy. It's helpful to find something about the height of an ottoman that you can put beside the mower where it doesn't roll completely over. You can place it on the side of the dash so to speak as you tip it over. On the really heavy mowers you might need some help

Can you use your mulching blad to bag your clippings?

I replaced my fuses, still won't start unless i jump it. Brand new interstate battery, nothing wrong with the battery. Mower starts and runs perfectly if i jump it, if i don't jump it, it doesn't make a sound.

I can't get the deck back on. What order? Middle bolts or backslide ins first?
@yourpro36538 ай бұрын
I typically connect the front first then the back hangers

It helps to make sure that you're on a flat surface and the tires are aired up
@yourpro36538 ай бұрын
Another thing that helps is if you have some type of pry bar or even like a broom handle or something to put underneath the deck on one side that you can use as leverage to lift up the deck a little as you line up the hangers

"just plug the fuel line". If I knew where to do that, I probably wouldn't be watching this video. :) instead of showing the belt route two times (which I can rewind), don't just toss out an important fact and not explain. Sorry, don't mean to be whiny, this is exactly what I'm looking for, but now I have to look elsewhere to have all the facts.
@yourpro36538 ай бұрын
I appreciate the feedback and I'm always thankful and open to be corrected. However there is no need to plug the fuel line if you tip it up with the carburetor on the top side. Something I do on mowers if the gas might leak from the gas cap is I will add a plastic bag underneath the gas cap and put the gas cap on to prevent gas from coming out the vent on the cap.
@brianhoward26328 ай бұрын
And if you have a small fuel shut off solenoid under the carb with a red wire that shuts off flow of fuel then you won’t have much fuel coming out and should stop. You can also just clamp on small vice grips near the carb to stop fuel , but still have the fuel from the bowl under carb, leaking until empty .. I left my tractor flat on ground and jacked up with stands for safety and possible rolling with wheel chocks

Hi and thanks for the informative video. I bought a Craftsman T240 over 4 years ago and have been happy with its quality and performance, but yesterday experienced my first issue. When engaging/disengaging the blades, it’s now making a harsh metal-to-metal screech which I need to diagnose and (hopefully) repair. If you have any thoughts, I’d appreciate your wisdom. While I’m at it, I’ll replace the blades but am unsure if the blade bolts are right hand or left hand thread. The owners manual doesn’t say. Thanks again from a new subscriber.
@yourpro36538 ай бұрын
Yeah few things come to mind. I'll start with the simplest and progress to the more complicated. If you're hearing metal it could be something as simple as the deck metal is bent in somewhere and catching a blade as a blade spins. Or it could be that a blade is bent and hitting part of the deck. Other things it could be is the bearings in the spindles( the blades are attached to the spindle shafts) it could be the bearings in the tensioner pulleys. Besides that there's some Oddball issues it could be such as something on top of the deck being bent and rubbing a pulley. I hope this helps and thanks for the comment
