1000 Stones, the black forge and Galdr table + the smelters, enough material for a portal and good food - that is what i was using. The Stone i used for raising ground walls between two large Rocks a few meters from the beach in shallow waters. From there i was raising the ground around the bow of my ship. The ship can't be seen from the shore and the only danger now are the serpents - which are a good food source and easy to handle from the raised ground.

Pretty positive this mod is broken in Bog Witch update. I downloaded r2modman for this mod and all tools in the rune tablet don’t work and seems like all of the key binds for everything while holding the tablet and trying to use any tool (pressing Ctrl and Alt with terrain tool and placing blueprints) doesn’t work everything in the standing rune is literally in Chinese and I went into the config can’t find anything for language and made everything involving the tool and tablet true and also direct build mode doesn’t work it looks like everything is placed correctly with correct materials but you can straight up walk through the building as if it’s a ghost object but visually it placed and built the building and the totem doesn’t register any plans placed around it when in planned mode

Hello, is the mod working on BogWitch? I don't know how to position the plants on the terrain, they are saved in the mod folder, they appear in the menu within the game, but how do I place them on the terrain and build? If you can help me, thank you.

And how'd I do this on SteamCMD when running a local server? I've never activated crossplay and just setup a new server, new world in another folder using same steamcmd and commands as the old one. This so I can run either one (not at the same time) depending who I'm playing with (and what mods) but this one keep telling me I'm not connected to playfab. Wth is up with being so redicilous. Should just be an easy tick in the config.

Sort of. You can ess with the weaons and armor stats if they are loose in the world. But if they are in the players inventory its a nogo zone. If the world spawns the weapon, then you can customize things such as item level durability crafter name etc

Sometimes closing Valheim and reloading it can fix that. Otherwise... maybe its a dependency? To use the commands on a server and such youll need Server Devcommands as well

when i place blueprint it acts as a ghost and i cant interact with it, i just walk-run though building like its not there, after log out and logging in again building is gone, i understand that i have to hold ctrl while placing it but it doesnt work what so ever please help if you can

I used troll armour until I got fenris. I’ve made some heavy armour but rarely used them. I don’t think I’ll ever give up fenris, I feel so slow in anything else!

Same for me xD That is exactly why we added the armor set bonuses to PoM, make the heavy armor feel more incentivizing. And now they have those meads which increase run speed by 15% for 10 minutes... crazy !

You can also force a spawn without a mod by using devcommands. This is what I ended up doing.

Will this work on a gportal server? We haven't discovered many swamps, could it still be generated somewhere without forcing it to generate?

If you have undiscovered swamp there's a good chance the witch will spawn there. My friends and I have several old seeds and we've been able to find her on several of them already. Best of fortune in finding her!

Yeah :) If you do nothing, she will probably generate in an unexplored swamp aprx 3000-4000 from center (might be wrong about the distance, only observed a few) The problem is usually finding her, especially on no-map worlds

@@JPValheim Come to think of it, is there any Jere-Kuusela-magic way to increase the spawn rates of certain mobs (vanilla server-friendly)? In particular, Serpents and Gjalls have very valuable drops but are sometimes so difficult to locate in sufficient numbers.

Very possible :) Making monsters spawn is one of the simpler things. You just have to figure out what you want the trigger to be, and then how much of a percentage chance (weight)

genloc is a vanilla command, its often misunderstood. "Generate locations" and the lag it makes would make it seem like its respawning something, but its not. It actually updates the _list of locations_ which can be refered to as "The Locations Registry". So, when you run genloc, Valheim will freeze for a bit, and then it will look lik nothing happened. However, if you then run a locations_reset etc on the affected location, then they will show up in new places after genloc. Basically in vanilla, genloc will only affect unexplored areas. However, with Upgrade World, we can "refresh" the explored areas too

@@JPValheim Thanks for the offer. Just to give an example, when i try to run the genloc command, nothing happens. There is no lag or freezing. For the reset or upgrade commands, i don't even get the 'start or stop' prompt and nothing happens even if i type 'start' and press Enter. Maybe i didn't install the Upgrade World mod properly?

You can reduce lag by setting some rules: No building --- exept portals in area where you hang the thropy. Animal farms must be seperate from player houses by a few grids (animals cause a lot of lag/fps drops). Like on other side of island for example where you house is. Limit your build to a 4-6 workbench circles araund the area (despawners outside base are fine). This doesnt apply to food areas as they dont take as much fps. Limit lights in your base. Have a portal room that leads to your animals, farms to reduce the lag even more or heck create a area that just has portals and have your connected to it.

Hello there fellow Viking, My friend bought the game for me like a week ago, my total playtime around 66 hours or something and I'm having a blast A little bit disconnected with the world but I digress, I am considering to create a new server and going to implemented the mods in it And this video gives me general idea or which I would really want, SimpleSort is one of them (I blame my brain for getting distracted even in the middle of a fight just to organize) Thank you for your summary of the mods, I wish everyone who see this comment, whether new or veteran players to have a wonderful day and play with joy :D

The sort mods are client-side, so you dont need them on the server :) Generally, mods that add gear or characters to the game are server-side, while mods that mess with UI or players are client-side server-side = mod must be on server and also on client client-side = mod is not needed on server

The smoke containment works, but having wood near the fire itself wont work, cause campfires and torches and such spit out embers, which start fires. So that whole building in the video... yeah, it would burn down xD

I found it a couple weeks ago and it's helping me a lot with my new server project. Also did you Work on the BetterContinents mod or are you simply uploading it on tunderstore? I tried creating a custom Valheim map with this mod like 2 days ago for a Valheim Civilisation like server and I was unable to do what I want with it. Is it possible to generate a world with continents that have some ashlands on them outside of this biome’s dedicated area on the map? (Sorry for bothering you with my questions)

Just to be clear - I did not make the mods ! I meant, the mods I showed in the video :) Most of the mods I show in tutorials were made by Jere. You can find a lot of help from the Valheim World Editing discord :) That being said, Jere took over Better Continents mod a while ago after the original author stopped updating it (I think) Its usually possible to make whatever you want, but it takes some time getting used to setting everything up properly. You can make custom Valheim maps using that sort of thing, some of the others in VWE have a lot of experience with that I havent done it

Its bad programming that causes fps loss: -- Campfires are best hidden behind a wall of some sort, so they dont render -- Reason why mobs lag the game is due to pathfinding. Game needs more process to find out where they will go. (yeah bad programming again) Outside your base, place de-spawners araund the base and you gona gain on fps. (same goes for farm animals) -- Snow and Ashlands storm are a buggy piece of crap that will kill your fps. DO NOT USE FIRE TORCHES OR FIRE ARROWS, its gona be worse. (smoke + weather effect dont work well) --For multiplayer is better to spread basses for each player and have a middle portal area at start of map where you have all workbenches --Removing trees and grass will improve your fps a bit

The only problem we ever had playing was the ashlands. The amount of item drops on the floor starts taking a toll. A few morgans smashing down the buildings... my god. A way to have dropped loot disappear after say 10 minutes would be perfect

there are upgrade world commands you can do to remove loose items from the world. You could schedule those commands with cron. objects_remove * type=ItemDrop That command removes all dropped items in the world

Most things you explain are true except the part of using vpn. In fact that will increase lag 99.9% of the time so please do not recommend it. The real strange way how a Valheim server distributes and arranges changes in the world indeed adds latency of player together in a strange way. It is not just adding latency of all players. But for every action the latency of the initiator + the latency of the owner + the latency of the receiver. Where 2 out of 3 or all 3 can be the same player in some instances. I think you make the mistake in thinking having a VPN server close to the Valheim server will mean your latency is between those 2 servers. But sadly it is not, it is all the way back trough the VPN tunnel to your PC. And traffic trough a tunnel also has latency due to distance and equipment in the connection. The only extra thing you get is extra encryption around your traffic. And that encryption does introduce a little bit additional delay because of the encryption/decryption overhead on your PC and the VPN server.

I understand what you think. Unfortunately Valheim networking doesn't work the same as other online games, like World of Warcraft. In Valheim, all the players in an area _combine_ their lag... For multiplayer, each person in the chunk adds their latency to the lag pool. The lag pool is then shared with each player in the chunk. When you don't use a VPN, your lag contribution is the distance between your computer and the server. So, if you are a long way from the server, you add a lot of latency to the lag pool, which is then shared with everybody in the area. By using a VPN, each player reduces their contribution to the lag pool. This reduces the lag for all players contributing to the lag pool in that chunk. It DEFINITELY works. Try it out yourself sometime. Theres a big difference between 3 players on other sides of the world, and those same players, all using a VPN close to the server.

​@@JPValheimI'm not brushed up on my internet architecture and my brain is struggling to string words together to form sentences but let me try to explain what I think may be happening... VPNs used to be through really slow connections & I'm sure that changed in recent years. But I hypothesize the reason your VPN trick might work is because providers follow their own narrow data pathway. As an example, if a client connects to a computer halfway across the world, they connect to various different nodes to get there. Many players connecting to many nodes can cause network lag. But all players using the same VPN service will share the same tunnel and hopefully lessen lag from less variation. If that's true, then the players can either 1. Find a single VPN service with high rate data transfer or 2. Manually change their network settings to all connect to the same ISP node that has the lowest latency. Again, my words may be off and it's been a long time since I even thought about networking but yeah. That's just an idea 🤷

@nickolasrichmond8739 I think you are right :) But theres also something in the way that Valheim networks that makes VPN relevant. Imagine you have 3 players in the same area in Valheim. Valheim combines the lag of all 3 players into something called the "lag pool".Then, each player experiences the total lag pool. AKA, each player experiences their lag + the other players lag When you use a VPN, you are making it so the connection between Valheim server and the VPN is closer than your computer without VPN. As a result, the lag pool is reduced for all players in area you are playing in, because each player using a VPN contributes less lag to the lag pool. This is why a VPN can reduce lag, even if it decreases your internet speed.

Yeah if the xbox struggles with this game then this could be the case. Don't know how good or bad it runs on a xbox since i do not own one. But the same is true if i join with my potato laptop from 2013 i create lots of problems for other players. If you go travel with a group you can even trigger the lag for them by running ahead and be the first player in new territory, because then the game sees you as the owner of the assets in this area. Owner does not mean as in owning these assets. Because naturally spawned items are not yours, but it means changes will be calculated by your computer. Thats right the valheim server does nothing just arrange distribution of actions/work/results. It is also easy to prove that Valheim multiplayer is a bit broken. When you play with multiple people in one room and can see each others screens you will notice many times in fights the enemy can be in a complete different location for each player. They follow the same path eventually just the timing is completely out of sync. If you want to see it in extremes just join with multiple players in one room to a server at the other side of the world with a high ping.

@@JPValheim no, just the swamps and infested mines were really bad for me. Our base was also slow for me but more around 15 fps. This was before ashlands came out

how do you cope with the huge lag and desync issues? Thats my biggest no-go in Valheim multiplayer worlds... its just becomes unplayable with mobs teleporting every X seconds.

for me those problems usually go away IF 1) Each player is on a VPN set close to the server 2) The server is not crossplay-enabled 3) Better Networking is installed on the clients and also the server 4) Dungeon Splitter helps reduce peoples instance load I dont know if theres a way to make combat smooth with 4 or more players in the same area though :(

hi, why did i reset the ore but when i get to black forest, rock like copper does not say "copper deposit" and when i mine them, they only give rocks? i am sure the shape looks like copper, does it need time to convert to copper?

Do not agree that corps run is not fun. If one of us die on our server we know we have an adventure to take the stuff back. Might have to build a new boat or whatever. I think that is a strong point of valheim, that it is fun to die and have that adventure

Good points :) Its almost like the corpse becomes a future treasure chest. I think the comment you are refering to in the interview was pointing out that corpse running is the "cost" of dying in World of Warcraft, not that Valheim has a bad corpse run system
