I forget the b-side at around the 25th minute mark

Delighted to hear Run Run a great b-side and they performed it very well. It's a pity there's not much footage of them playing their b-sides but I guess they're told to play the hits when they're touring.

The acoustic version is so raw and powerful, I love it. Thanks buddy for putting this up!

I mean, they only write hits only to then put them out as B-sides for Pete sakes. Another sublime song from The Coral.

Another brilliant tune, but I must admit that it took me a good few listens before the song started to grow on me. But once it hits, there's no going back.

One of my favourite songs from Roots and Echo's, a masterpiece in my mind. It really is the perfect song and the melodies are so heavenly, they just melt on my mind.

Coolest ending to a song ever!

Anyone see the amazing live performance of Careless Hands on Later with Jools Holland? The ending just blew we away because not only is their timing perfect, but they had the coolest looking drummer ever with those shades and that sixties jacket. Honestly, it was the perfect performance, the type that causes the sun to come out from behind the clouds to smile.

Amazing song, amazing band and amazing album. Did I say amazing? Because this is amazing!

I played the first album to death that I got sick of it, but the songs are so crazy good, the quality is outstanding. And they haven't stopped producing top quality since. I'd love to know what Macca and Lennon would have thought of them if they had seen them live.

The Coral just don't know how to write a bad song, as they only write classics like this song right here.
@todareistodomyfoot840318 күн бұрын
How many bands can produce over 10 albums and have not one bad song? Most of their songs are potential singles and that includes their B-sides. Not many bands could claim that save maybe the Beatles.

Sack the management right now! how this stunning tune wasn't released as a single is a mystery only to Gina Jones herself.

Great tune, it's got such a pure energy about it, and I love it. Crazy guitars

Brilliant tune, the melody is so strong, and whatever way the drumming is coming off, it sounds like a train on train tracks like one might heard on ones travels. It's such a scary song too, they really capture the imagination in the minds eye.

Anyone have a live version for this song, which is the best song on this amazing album for me. It's so melodic and chaotic along with so many mysterious songs weaved throughout the song. What was the managements reason for not releasing this song? Every song on this album was a potential single the album is so good and the artwork is stunning, it really captures that the colours of an cool Autumn day across some golden beach which hides a porthole to another dimension.

Down by the riverside That's where I buried Jane The win it blew so cold and cruel On a cross I wrote her name I'm going down, I'm going down Down to the riverside To the place where she lies Down by the riverside The night that I first met Jane She wore a blood red coat We danced the crescent moon Her ribbon around her throat I'm going down, I'm going down Down to the riverside To the place where she lies Down by the riverside We were married in the spring She swore her love for me I kissed her lips, she whispered soft "I wed this ribbon for thee" I'm going down, I'm going down Down to the riverside To the place where she lies Down by the riverside Two shadows on the window's ??? It was Jane with another man I drew his blood and watched him die As the ribbon, it tightened in my hand I'm going down, I'm going down Down to the riverside I'm going down, I'm going down To the place where she lies Down by the riverside

The operations came and took me away They took me away Everybody laughed Remember the day they took me away I don’t know what they’re looking for Don’t think I’ll ever know They laid me on the bed 🛏 Drilled my head The incision bled Put wires in my brain 🧠 Every now and again I remember a name And as I drift away Into my hiding place A maze of alleyways Where the cameras cannot see The operators came and took me away They took me away Everybody laughed Remember the day they took me away Remember the day they took me away Remember the day they took me away

There's nobody doing anything like this, even today! What an amazing tune this is and the images that it provokes in my minds eye. Gargoyles, dragons, night, hang mans day, precious eyes, young virgin in danger and the young hero to save her.

It took me a few years to accept this guy into the group, but I must say that he's grown on me and this is a very nice song. The Coral might not be the band that they used to be, but they're still able to come up with some cracking songs. I would love nothing more than to get a Night Freaks and the Sons of Becker sequel along with another mystery Curse of Love 2 album.

This song is like honey dripping into my eardrums lol, I love this album, it's so creative and carefree. I imagine the boys had a lot of fun making this less serious album.

Yep, this is definitely late 50s to early 60s influenced and I love it. They're not afraid to use any type of object just to get the right sound that they might have wanted at the time.
@todareistodomyfoot8403Ай бұрын
Is this sound from a cassette as it doesn't sound like it's digital quality and I'm not complaining at all, so don't be offended. It's just that I remember buying a few of their singles on cassette and also on cd.
@todareistodomyfoot8403Ай бұрын
The really early B-sides were very heavenly 1950s influenced by blues and rockabilly, it seems to me that is. The quality isn't great on some of the songs but that's okay because that might have been out of the uploaders hands. I think I got more into The Coral on the 2nd album and it's then when their B-sides went upwards in quality. So it does seem that they weren't so fantastic at the start and that they really had to work hard to reach the levels that they did musically.

Can somebody tell me what ZL sessions means please? If this is live it's a cracking take as it sounds it came off the CD itself. I remember getting this album and being baffled by it. It only took them two weeks to make it, but it's such a grower, and by the time it hits you, you're blown away. I really felt like they made a film and put it into a CD. lol. I wouldn't part with this album at all, it's like the freak show on a CD that you visited but one that you'll never forget. This album was made for the fans but it still got into the top 10 in the charts. I'm pretty sure that I either heard them say in an interview or was it a magazine that the band thought that they had committed commercial suicide by putting this album out. I wouldn't change this album for the world, and I'm delighted they brought it out. And for me, because the band were a tad retro, I think music moved on so much that maybe they got left behind a little. That's not to say that modern music got better than what the Coral were producing, in fact modern music got worse.... because I actually think that what the Coral produced in their prime was actually better than the Beatles. I look back at the best bands around at that time for quality of music and live performances and I came up with these guys. The Coral, Mansun and Super Furry Animals and as soon as I heard these bands I threw away any Oasis and Blur shit that I had and never looked back.
