During test day, you will receive 6 to 7 items of describe image right? 20 sec is very short and then speak , i hope they put this in writing subtest... 😭

Yes, it can be challenging, but remember, the key is to be clear and concise, focusing on the most important details of the image. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it! 😉

In intonation, how to we know which word and which syllable in that word is the peak ?
@E2PTE2 күн бұрын
In intonation, the peak of the intonation pattern usually corresponds to the most stressed word or syllable in a sentence. Here are some guidelines to help identify the peak: Content Words vs. Function Words: Content words (nouns, main verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) typically carry more stress than function words (prepositions, conjunctions, and auxiliary verbs). The peak often falls on a content word. Emphasis: If a speaker wants to emphasize a particular word to convey meaning or emotion, that word will usually have the peak. For example, in the sentence "I really like chocolate," "chocolate" would be the peak. Sentence Type: In questions, the peak often rises at the end or at the stressed word. In statements, the peak might fall at the main stressed word. Syllable Stress: Within a word, the syllable that is most emphasized will often be the peak. For example, in the word "information," the second syllable is stressed, making it the peak: in-for-MA-tion. Pitch Movement: Listen for changes in pitch. The peak is often where the pitch rises to its highest point before falling. Practicing with audio resources, such as songs or spoken English, can help you become more familiar with identifying intonation peaks in different contexts.

How do you know which word or semi-word to say out loud.
@E2PTE2 күн бұрын
To determine which word or semi-word to emphasize when speaking, focus on identifying key information, such as content words (nouns, main verbs, adjectives, and adverbs) that carry the core meaning of your message. Emphasize new information or important details relevant to the context of the conversation. Pay attention to natural intonation patterns, where stressed words often have a higher pitch or are louder. Additionally, practice listening to fluent speakers and imitating their emphasis and intonation, which can help you become more confident in your spoken communication.

I just took the test and got high marks in every section. My best advice is to be calm, take your time on the reading, and don't over-prepare. I gave very short and concise answers in the speaking portion, but i spoke clearly and with proper grammar. The vast majority of your points come from simply demonstrating command of the English language. They aren't looking for elaborate answers - just reasonable responses. Familiarize yourself with the format and practice each question type a few times (not 100 times), and you'll be fine.
@E2PTE2 күн бұрын
Congratulations on your high marks! That's fantastic to hear. Your advice is spot on-staying calm and taking your time can really make a difference. Clear and concise answers are often more effective than overly elaborate ones. Thank you for sharing your insights; they will definitely help others preparing for the test! If you have any more tips or experiences to share, feel free to do so!

Is it describing an image or analysing an image?! The preparation time of 25 seconds is too short, and the 30 seconds for responding is also insufficient. This part of the exam is unfair and not standardized! For example in IELTS we have more time to respond.
@E2PTE2 күн бұрын
Many find the preparation and response times challenging, especially when compared to other exams like IELTS, which offer more time. It can definitely feel a bit rushed, and it's understandable to feel that it's not entirely fair. Practicing under timed conditions might help you get more comfortable with the format. Your feedback is valid, and it's important for exam boards to consider such concerns for future improvements!

Hi, I usually don't comment on videos but some circumstances are special and call for it. I had already given 3 PTE attempts in the past and received really great successive scores but not the desired score of 79+ in each section, and that led me to take it for the 4th and final time. With lots of practice and all the tips and techniques from really helpful channels such as this, I was able to finally get a great score - Overall: 89, L: 88, R: 84, S: 90, W: 90. I wanted to take this opportunity to be grateful and thankful to you Jay! You are an amazing teacher and your way of teaching, all the tips and techniques and overall enthusiasm is amazing. You have helped me and countless others in our journeys through your work. Keep up the great work mate, Cheers!!
