❣️You should clean the surface (using a degreaser) before sanding. This will prevent smearing the grease into the surface, which could lead to an uneven finish and poor adhesion for paint or other coatings.

From Raymarine website: _"The design of the P79 accommodates a wide range of deadrise angles from 2° to 22°. This transducer is intended for use on vessels with solid fiberglass hulls with a maximum thickness of 5/8". P79 can also be used on aluminum hulls less than 3.8mm (0.125") thick."_

@@MarcoYolo420 Thanks. Most PNW Alu boats have bottoms thicker than 0.125, so it won’t work.

is there a algorithm or some cost/benefit analysis calculator that a boater can use to see if this smart boat module can be of benefit?where do I find it?John

Mine was epoxied down to the inside hull. It was never properly sealed at this base and always leaked coolant. I got sick and tired of taking my back seat out and stretching deep in the back to remove the transducer and refilling it with thus coolant. So i dried out whatever coolant was in the 1/2 sealed well and siliconed the inside and outside of the well. Let it cure, then added 20/50 motor oil. Hopefully no more back and forth now getting it to work. Right from brand new, it was a very poor installation by someone who didn't know how to properly install these. I did the oil because coolant evaporates and disappears quickly. So hopefully the oil lasts longer.

Why don't you guys ever talk about hooking up (wiring ) the transducer to the display box? and what transducers are compatible with different display panels?
@ericdavi1231 Жыл бұрын
Looks like it doesn’t have to be incredibly tight which is a relief for me. I ordered the flat wrench, but the slots on top of the transducer are so short it was hard to get any good torque without the wrench slipping off. I used just as much 4200 and had someone holding the transducer from underneath the boat to help me get some good turns on the nut. I probably managed to get it a little tighter than this video but I was still worried until I found this!

Hi Mike, I wanted to ask. I have the B175HW and it has been working great. It was set to 800hz . I have been seeing the fish marking really well. The waters I fish are from anywhere 12ft. to over 100. Do I customize my frequency based on depth for example 24 feet but then what would I change it to when drifting 70 to 30 feet etc? Just curious but I love this transducer. Also, if I find fish stacked up in an area on a drift, should I just drift it or set my minn kota to spot lock. just off the fish or on top of them? Thanks for your help.

You're missing details for a Catamaran Powerboat. Where do you put one that's a through hull Transducer?
@airmargen Жыл бұрын
Hi, Cat hulls are tough and often the only solution is an In-hull model shooting through the fiberglass. It works well as long as the fiberglass in that location is solid (no air).

I own a TM275LH... what’s the frequency to use when running at speed? I lose bottom at about 150ft running at 20kts
@airmargen Жыл бұрын
The reason you are losing bottom has more to do with air getting by the face of the transducer which disrupts the signal. If this constantly happens at about the same speed, its 100% bubbles. Lower the transducer a bit to get the face of the transducer into air-free water.

What if i have like a full keel running down the center of my hull? Not as deep as on sailboats but still. Will it cause any turbulence with a regular mount on a starboard side?
@airmargen Жыл бұрын
It shouldn't cause turbulence if there is some distance between the transducer and the keel. Be mindful that if you have wide-beam transducer and a deep keep, there could be side-lobe reflection from the keel. Consult with an installer that's dealt with such scenarios.

Why not use your GPS, that will never foul... why do we care if we are doing 5 knots or 5.5 knots, have seen or heard about the unit coming apart, water rushing in....
@instantchow2 жыл бұрын
some people cannot afford the newer gps that can show water speed.
@airmargen Жыл бұрын
There can be a significant difference between speed over ground which is from your GPS and speed through water which is measured by a paddlewheel. Powerboaters might not care so much but sailing captains care a lot.

Should use tape to cover the face of the transducer to avoid ANY sealant getting on it, and mitigate any needs to use cleaners on it. Also must ensure the arrow on the transducer points towards the keel, which is critical for proper orientation. If you use tape on the face of the 'ducer you can draw an arrow on it that matches the arrow on the top of the transducer. This way you can ensure proper orientation when installing it. I like how you removed the old transducer, but should specify the size of the hole saw needed.
