Thx for your tutorial. It helped me combine 2 different geometries along a curved path. Seems so obvious how to do it, now that i know... No other tutorial I saw, demonstrated the usage of "plane along path" multiple times on the same path. Thanks so much!!

Great video Pete, how do you do the same when the intersection points are not colinear? i.e. I want intersection to intersection, but aligned to a feature/line, not point to point? Take your example part, flip it so the 7" dimension is on the bottom and horizontal. Now place a dimension from the intersection between the 2" and 5" faces to the intersection between the angled face right of the 5" face and left of the 3/4" face. But have it aligned to the 5" face. Easy when the 5" face is horizontal, not so easy when it's not orthogonal. Hope you and your family are doing well!

This is a ridiculous problem that Autodesk needs to fix now. Solidworks does not have this issue. In fact sketches are always visible unless you hide them or they are consumed by making a feature with them. And when you edit or create a sketch, say inside of an object, you can see your sketch lines from any view. You can section view the model if you want, but you don't need to. And this is important, especially if when making that sketch you need to take into consideration existing object geometry. The opacity option is great and all, this should not have to be something that you need to change. Here we are now at Inventor 2025, and they still have not fixed this.

Hi mate, could you help me, i have a question, Is it possible to change the file name Just by changing the part number, i want to edit aluminium profile, before i trim, the length is 1000, and the file name is 1000 and the part number is 1000, if i trim the alumunium profile to 800, the part number will change 800, but the file name not change, how to change the file name only just change the part number?

A couple years behind this original post, but I came here after searching for why my main assembly isn't showing in my BOM. I get all of the parts showing up, but not the main assembly. It's a FAB and everything is set to NORMAL, and I select "FAB" when initiating my parts list, but the only thing that doesn't show up is the main assembly (I don't have any subassemblies). It's not a large assembly by any stretch either. My parts list is set to STRUCTURED too. What am I missing??
