We cruised on the Regal & Enchanted Princess and thought the standard balcony cabins were the worst ( by far ) cabins we ever stayed in...when my wife & I walked into the first Regal cabin with our carry ons & bags, , our first thoughts were: "where's the rest of the cabin?"...my wife said.."where do we put our things?"..I thought, "where do we eat?"..I actually went down to Guest Services to see if maybe we were assigned the wrong cabin, lol..the agent there checked and said, "no, you're in the right cabin"...I asked "where's the sofa couch?"..he said, "standard balcony cabins on Princess don't have a couch..you must upgrade to the deluxe balcony cabin"...I thought, "you have to pay extra for a couch?" ..in 40+ cruises, this was the first time we've never had a couch in our cabin on 7 cruise lines.."where do we eat?"... a lady said, "you don't eat in those cabins"...wow! I guess room service or bringing back some food was out of the question..then we booked one time a deluxe balcony and that had a loveseat ( not a full sofa..)..that was a bit better, but I could NOT lie down on it- too small..at least there was a place to put our things, and eat..and YES, I hate curtained showers..I shave in the shower and made a mess every time..ALL other cruise ships had a glass enclosed shower..I'm soooo glad the Sun Princess ( which we just cruised on mid October and LOVED the Sun!!) was 100% better than the Royal class cabins- AND a 6 ft couch....Finally Princess has gotten into the 21st century!!..You should not have to pay $$ for a couch or have to upgrade to a mini suite to be comfortable in your cabin IMO....

We booked Sun Princess for the Greece/Spain trip in September 2026. We wanted the mini suite midship but the only room available is the cabana mini suite, I’m not sure if we like the cabana as it takes so much space from the suite. Does the cabana area have air conditioned? We really enjoyed the mini suite in Discovery Princess. Thank you for the honest review.

We are going on the January 4th cruise. We haven’t been on Princess since Dec 2019. This will determine if we sail with Princess again. (We are Elite.)

Very disappointing about the long lines and lack of seating at the Eatery. That’s a no-go for me. I refuse to have a plate made then trek to my balcony table to eat! Wow! Breakfast better than dinner in the MDR!

I actually think you have the 28” check-in. The 26” does not come with a handle on the front of the case.

After the reviews I’ve been hearing new customers and loyal customer! I’m convinced that they have given up on trying to please everybody on a single ship, and it just decided to have a ship for the younger demographic and ships for the older demographic.

I booked a mini-suite because of the bathtub. I look forward to sailing the Majestic 🙂

After cruising Holland America, Carnival, and Princess I'd have to say their slogans SHOULD be "Don't drop the soap"!!!

Thanks for the video, it really helped. Do you think it's worth it to upgrade to a cabana mini suite instead of a deluxe balcony or premium deluxe balcony? It's not that much more. What other benefits did you receive with having the cabana mini suite? We are trying to decide which one to book. We are wanting to book the new ship the Princess Star, because I'm thinking it will be very similar to the Princess Sun.

Just did 12 days on the Sun. Totally agree with your analysis. As a Princess elite and faithful will not go back unless the itinerary is going to somewhere specific the other Princess ships aren’t going.

I get what Princess was trying to do here - build smaller spaces that could be used in multiple ways to get maximum use out of them. Lots of ships have those huge aft lounges that get used maybe once a day and sit empty the rest of the time. Princess was going for venues that could transform throughout the day and would be in constant use - a great idea. Unfortunately, that’s caused many of the venues to be unreliable in terms of what you can expect from them. One moment, you have a quiet reading spot or a tranquil indoor pool and then a couple hours later a huge production show is going on. Secondarily, the size of the venues was misjudged. I think Princess was expecting that passengers would disperse throughout the public spaces more than they are in reality. But that makes me question why Princess would want such small audiences for their shows? Why put together such an elaborate and expensive production in the Dome, for example, that only 250 people can see at a time?

By unlimited they mean number of times you can dine at a specialty restaurant, not the items on menu per each restaurant. On other cruise lines you may only get 2 to 4 "dinings" in a trip depending on your meal package or stateroom/staus level. For example on Norwegian if you check our their specialty package.

You hit the nail on the head in my complaints about the Celebrity Edge. However, the Celebrity Edge ships don't seem to have the capacity issue that the Princess ship has and because the Martini Bar area is sunken, there is a pathway to other areas. It's still noisy, however. Since Celebrity didn't bother with lounges outside of the Club for this ship, lounge size is not an issue. And I feel the same way, that's a good ship for groups, not couples. But this sounds worse because the sizes of venues seem woefully small on the ship. I don't know where this idea that having so many activities in the atrium/foyer/plaza, whatever you want to call it, space is a good idea. The central heart of the ship is the overly crowded/noisy place you must go through to get somewhere else. On the Edge, the Martini Bar/Grand Plaza noise is heard in the specialty dining rooms. On this ship, the noise inteferes with two other lounges music, competes with it, and that's just bad design. Maybe thy'll be glass enclosed spaces on future Sphere class ships. Maybe that would help?

You are 100% correct. I dont even know why they even bother staging shows in the dome when it is pitifully tiny. I think they should do PAID shows there only to avoid passengers being disappoointed trying to get a seat there

I like Princess and have sailed with them 6 times. Royal, Majestic, Grand, Ruby 2X & Crown. But they seem to be getting to big. I appreciate this in being done as a couple. I am not looking for big table seating and sounds crowded. I have a cruise booked on the Coral Princess in March 2025. While new & interesting I do not think I am going to do this any time soon. I would definitely say the Sun Princess is more for adult couples then families with small children (or any children for that matter). Venues seems small for the ship capacity, but I would like to say that the hot tubs were numerous (9). Never been on a ship with as many hot tubs. In fact every night I had a hot tub to myself on deck 18 at 8pm. I will be on the Star Princess in June 2026 so I hope they fix a few things which I hear they have already done (move restaurants etc.). Rooms were great as video stated. Service was also excellent. Princess overall does a great job in my opinion.

I enjoy how detailed your reviews are. Shame on Princess for poor design regarding use of public spaces. More passengers/smaller venues, mostly focused on a central hub don't create a relaxing experience. The reliance of specialty dining notably detracts from the MDR & takes valuable bar/lounge real estate. I sailed aboard Discovery Princess during the Easter week of her inaugural season & it was chock-a-full of families with children running around unsupervised. I much prefer Crown Princess over Discovery for the public space layout. I respectfully beg to differ about Princess being a premium line. As their product presentation has shifted to an onboard revenue production mode, I now consider Princess nothing more than mass market. Princess is a shadow of it's former self & feels like staying in some airport corporate chain hotel.

I appreciate your honest review. While we are booked on the Sun for a week in March, I'm not impressed with the entertainment venues. Loud noise in the Piazza may be a deal breaker for me for further cruises on the Sun . We do really like the design of the class the Regal is in. I agree that the views of the "influencers" from the media cruise was super saccharinely. It's a turn off for me.

Great cruise for me on 10/14. I just wanted something low key, not a lot of kids, and some entertainment options. Although the cruise was full it did not feel overly crowded in most areas and I found getaway spots on Deck 19 and Deck 18 close to the Sanctuary entrances.

we (family of 4) are going on this ship in a few weeks, and I'm already looking into some books to bring b/c I anticipate having difficulties seeing the shows. Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised--but everything you say make sense (venues too small for a ship this size).

You are not being unreasonable regarding specialty and casual dining uplifts for some of the menu items. I sail on the Sun in January and was expecting zero restrictions but am now enlightened and disappointed. Is it time to try other cruise lines or are they doing the same nickel and dime routine.

I concur with everything you said. I like the Royal class ships over the Sphere class. I'm on the Caribbean Princess (Grand Class) in a couple weeks (Rome to Ft. Lauderdale) which is and older class of ship. Great meeting you both on the Sun. Mike

On the three Viking cruise ships we've been on Mamsen's was far forward on the starboard side, not port. We'll be on our fourth ship soon so maybe we'll find a change in location.

We used to love sailing on Princess, but they have disappointed us too many times. We gave up on Princess and mega ships in general. We don't have these problems on the smaller ships. The all-in cost per day is about the same on Oceania, Viking, and Azamara, compared to the mega ships and their add-ons.

Thanks for the good review. We have been on Apex, Solstice, and Millennium (Revolutionized). Each class has its own personality. Love each of them. We sailed Princess in 2012 for our first cruise and thought we hated cruising. Later we tried Celebrity and found out we loved cruising with Celebrity and hate Princess.

I always bring my own bar soap. A half used bar of Ivory Soap. My favourite.

I also heard that if you go to the casual dining pub and want extra fries you have to pay for them
