Illinois has beat 3 ranked teams at the time they played. Kansas, Nebraska, and Michigan. The only team in FBS to do so. Granted all 3 teams are having terrible seasons. For Illinois those wins were big for this team. Knowing you can beat teams that you’ve always lost to. Illinois football has not been a good program for a long time. Bielema is changing that. They prepared a long time for Michigan and I believe they’ve been doing the same for Oregon. I do believe Illinois will play a respectable game. They are not 21 point underdogs. GO ILLINI🏈🏈

The problem with ppg defensive play between these teams is Illinois has only played PSU for a ranked team. They lost and PSU isn't exactly lightning up scoreboards. Oregon has played Ohio State and top 15 BSU. Had they played scrubs like Purdue every week where they gave up 0 these numbers would be lopsided. Oregon has a better defense and it's not close. They have a way better offense but they let off the gas when they are up. That .5 is a better killer. I wouldn't take 21.5 you are banking on Oregon putting in work during garbage time and they really haven't.

Enough with the narrative that Oregon should beat Boise State by 30 points any day of the week. They have played 4 different times. Only time Oregon did win by just 3 points. Boise State won the other 3 times. By more than 3 points each time i might add. At some point in time and history people need to acknowledge Boise State as a legitimate team. Couple things: Michigan is not good at football at this point. They can't throw the ball at all. Also, Purdue hung 43 on Illinois in regulation. The spread is reasonable.

You don't have the most impactful element of the Oregon defense on here, though it's not one player so I sort of get it. The secondary is stingy. Will Howard is the only QB to throw very well against them. Illinois' best chance of staying in this is being able to go blow for blow, and if they can't pass, that's going to be an issue. I think the spread is a touchdown too much, but I also think people need to get over the idea of B1G defenses being able to "shut down" our offense. The only time we've really struggled offensively is when they were messing around with the o-line by having Poncho at guard instead of center, and when they were-it would appear-intentionally not throwing to Evan Stewart so there was no tape on his routes. Yes Illinois is the team that just held Michigan to 7, but they're also only a week removed from allowing Purdue to score 46 points in the second half. A Purdue team Tosh Lupoi managed to shut out on the road with only a half of Football to work with. It's far more important Illinois gets a fast start than Oregon. Because if both teams start slow, Oregon can on the gas at some point. Not so sure Illinois has that switch to flip.

Oregon's offense is not Michigan's offense, its waaaayyy better!... which leads me to my second point, and that is trying to slow down the Ducks offense on there home field with the home crowd behind them is not gonna happen! Illini has a good team (kudos to them,) and they will give the Ducks a good game... my prediction is 32🦆to 14. Ducks go to 8-0!
