Wow! I know I'm very late to this video, but I have to let you know that I've been a long-time subscriber and I lost your channel somehow but I'm so glad I found it again and that you're still making videos. ❤ I am super interested in sustainable living, homesteading and foraging, so watching your videos makes me feel less alone and like I found a kindred spirit. I agree with you on eating seasonally. And home grown produce taste so much better from the garden. I had a really nice garden in the backyard which I'll be doing again this year. My dad would come over just to come get my veggies from the garden lol. That's a 30 min drive for him to come by just for the veggies, lol. He did visit, but was he snacking on my tomatoes, he sure was, or eating my strawberries and blueberries from the garden while he visited, he sure did, lol. I had so many veggies that I had to share with my friends at the trailer and they could all tell the difference from Backyard garden veggies and the ones from the store. Hands down they loved the garden veggies better. I'll be adding to the garden this year, I'm so excited for it. Come on spring. :)

Great video. I’ve read Radical Homemakers and Barbara Kingsolver’s book and Braided Sweetgrass sound like books I’ll enjoy. As an Australian I can recommend a few great Permaculture and sustainable living authors including Linda Woodrow (Permaculture Home Garden inspired me years ago) and Rhonda Hetzel. Another favourite is Jenny Allen’s Paradise in Your Garden. Matthew Evan’s is a Tasmanian farmer who has written some great books that I actually need to read. Some of his may appeal to those living in colder climates. I’m in a sub tropical climate but still really enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing.

Great recommendations. I have braiding sweet grass in my to read pile. If you are interested in plants, I just finished The Light Eaters. It's all about the biology of plants. It changed the way that I view plants and the natural world. It's not often that I come across a book that does that.

Gosh how do you know if it is a fake acting like a person or real? My gosh why is our world getting so scarey :( I actually ordered Babara's book right off the batt. Honestly I have followed a lot of everything for years and have learned a ton from you to, as you know I am sure, so I always love to just read and follow up and grow, even at 61...so if you love that book that much I know I have to read it :) I also dog ear etc., my books cookbooks included. I love finding a cookbook at any of my thrift etc., stores that they just left the tabls or bookmarks in the cookbooks with the person having loved a recipe. Usually those recipes are wonderful. I so enjoyed this. hugs

This is so beautiful and inspiring. Thank you. I wish the world valued self reliance more. Even 10-20% self reliance would change so much of society and politics. I always wanted to read Animal, Vegetable Miracle, and now I will. Prodigal Summer and Small Wonder were big for me. *I just found out the library has it on audiobook, narrated by Barbara!

Is Radical Homemakers for only men and women or is it for all genders? I'm non-binary and the way you highlighted men and women made me question
@FairlyRooted
@FairlyRooted Күн бұрын
Radical Homemakers is for everyone, regardless of gender. The book highlights how people of all genders can embrace the values of self-reliance, simplicity, and ecological living. The focus is on fostering communities and ways of living that support sustainability, and those ideas can be applied by anyone, regardless of gender identity. Thanks for pointing that out, and I hope it helps clarify!

Self reliance in combination with building community reliance like with how you trade with your neighbours is so important right now. We can't excel at everything so channeling our energy strategically in concert with our community is the happiest future ahead.

There is something about us Ukrainians that love our herbs. lol My mom is the same too. Amazon is so problematic. Thriftbooks is the main place (for me) to go. Braiding Sweetgrass is that one book I've been hearing about forever but never got around to reading. I need to check it out. Have you read anything by Stephen Harrod Buhner? There is a ton of discussion about the medicinal use of herbs. You may like it.
