One can see, how important the rudder is, in the landing.

Why the hell did they remove the swastikas from the tails of the planes? It's not insensitive or offensive, it's HISTORICALLY ACURATE. The people that own them really need to stop being politically correct.
@FiveCentsPlease2 күн бұрын
+@UltraMagaFan2 The swastika was banned in Germany in 1945 and it is still banned. There are some exceptions for education but not on flying aircraft.

@@FiveCentsPlease Dumb law. Germany should allow the swastika on WW2 aircraft. They should be as historically accurate as possible. They’re flying history and marvels of engineering. They’re very educational. I’ve had the opportunity to talk to people that fly and work on old warbirds and I’ve learned things that I otherwise would have never known.

It doesn`t really. When you compare accidents per flight hours to other jets its pretty normal. It was only in early West German Luftwaffe days when things went wrong. It went back to normal once they got it figured out. Also it was the media that pushed the "widowmaker" narrative.

Wondering if it is possible to fill in a db600 series engine into a prototype v12 sports car
@PaddyPatrone4 күн бұрын
Porbably won`t make much sense since these big engines are quite heavy. Aircraft engines are not made for quick throttle response, but to produce high consistent power over longer time periods.

Spanish license build 109. They used Merlin engines, cause thats what was available to them. This airframes was then rebuild to G12 specs (more or less). It can still be fitted with a german DB605 engine and was a couple flight hours with such an engine.

Flew fast in a straight line, couldn't turn and in an USAF experiment in 1965, was continually shot down in dog fights with a National Guard F-86. Withdrawn from Vietnam because of this fatal flaw. Cost Germany many pilots' lives and was a POS.
