A timely video! It’s been a year now since a period of solitude in my life ended, but during that time I avoided introspection about what led me to the solitude and instead pondered other spiritual things. Only recently have I gotten resolution about what led me there and in addition I have healed relationships. Thank you for your stellar content!

So would you say then that the Shadow is like the Buddhist concept of attachment? The man has become attached to toxic relationships which is causing him harm and the solution is to be open to the source of the harm he is doing himself. Also you refer to the temptations of Christ. I think it is interesting that Satan tempts Jesus with the other three dangerous attachments- wealth (turning stones into bread)-power (follow Satan and rule kingdoms) safety (jump and the angels will catch you) Sometimes when I watch your videos I fear my brain will catch fire-Thanks
@archetypalwisdom
@archetypalwisdom 17 күн бұрын
Great question. The Shadow doesn’t necessarily have to pertain to attachment. However, the degree to which an attachment is unconscious or repressed is the degree to which it falls within the domain of the Shadow. Fascinating connection you made to the temptations in the desert relating to dangerous attachments.

If indeed Walter White's story mirrors Cain's story then it should be noted that the ambiguity of the short paragraph about Cain and Abel in the Bible mirrors the ambiguity of a persons decisions in general, i.e. the story of the farmers horse- buddhism-wherein seemingly good fortune follows seemingly bad fortune (good bad who knows?) and the personal bitterness we can feel towards the outcome of any decision that is made. We all need to make sacrifices to achieve anything in life, however, sometimes things do not work out and our sacrifices are not 'accepted' by God/Life/Universe for reasons which our mortal coil will never understand, as the ambiguity shows in the missing details of Cain and Abel's sacrifices, and why G-d etc accepted Abel's sacrificial offerings but rejected Cain's.

Yes. When a baby is born it cries because it is crushed by the birthing and expelled into a cold and dangerous world. If it doesn’t cry and no one helps it will die. When one is born of the spirit, one is crushed by the pain of remorse. If you do not transform yourself you will never experience freedom.

@adorableinsect
@adorableinsect 2 ай бұрын
I don't think that is what's meant by master here. By master, I believe they are referring to priorities or values. For example, love and compassion can be your master. The concept of serving two masters represents the conflict between having two equal yet incompatible values or priorities. It's like saying you want to go left and right at a fork in the road. Sometimes we are forced to make decisions, and the decision we make is based on what we value more. The most valuable thing is being called our master, because it is what we serve. It doesn't mean we are enslaved to it, it just means that because we value it, we move toward it and it therefore seems to influence us, like a master.

I think we are usually unaware that we are serving two masters. All my life people told me that I was rude and insulting. I excused myself by thinking they were too thin skinned and it was just a friendly joke. I can’t remember at what point I looked back and realized that I was being rude and insulting. I was defending my arrogance rather than supporting my friends as I thought I was doing. I work toward doing better now. Yours is the only video I need to watch three times and take notes on. Your ability to view biblical stories in particular in a psychologically profound way is amazing! I wonder what we might find in the psychology of orca whales when we better learn their language. They, like us, have advances like language and culture but it seems they got to the top of the ocean food chain without the same kind of stark jump that we had to get to the top of the terrestrial one.

If you see this comment the universe is speaking to you: Let me tell you a secret: Religion is when bureaucrats compile a canon of their favorite wise sayings, rituals, metaphysical charts, fables & philosophical tractates. They set things in stone to stop expansion not to seek truth, Once orthodoxy is established its perpetuation becomes the goal But heirarchies don't have access to objective reality, Its an intersubjective simulacrum created by a lowest common denominator of shared delusions, Meaning becomes absurd because We don't actually want truth we want social cohesion Or at least we want the egregore we created to continue existing Tenured professors are just a priest class, they want to maintain a status quo and be the arbiters of knowledge, They know the answers already They don't want new answers They could be 80% correct but they are still just humans and we all just agreed they are more special than other humans

A video very reminiscent of last chapter of The Hero with a Thousand Faces which identified society’s need for a new myth that could fill the current void, but one that would be compatible with scientific discovery unlike the old myths. I am seeing this just after having listened to the audiobook of Sam Harris’s book “Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality without Religion” which attempts to find the original wellspring in the form of meditation and understanding consciousness. I suppose his approach was that of neuroscience rather than psychology, but I believe that both will be necessary to bridge the gap. I’m happy to see creators like you educating on this very real issue!
