A Vet can tell if someone is also a Vet. I met a guy years ago and asked him, "Dogface or Jarhead?" His friends thought there'd be a fight. I told him i was a Nuke-Bubblehead-Squid (USN, Attack Submarine/SSN), and he said he was Army. We hugged and both thanked each other for Serving. We worked for the same Company, just in different Divisions. We were always on the same team...

What you guys fail to understand is that a combat veteran is the one who keeps his cool when everyone else is wigging out. A combat veteran knows how to react under pressure, and how (and when) to apply escalation of force in accordance with the use of force continuum. A combat veteran knows how to control his emotions and his actions during high stress, traumatic, and complex situations that would leave most people frozen in fear or horror. A combat veteran runs towards the threat to save as many lives as possible... He doesn't cower while the innocent are being harmed. A combat veteran knows when to pull the trigger, and when NOT to pull the trigger. A combat veteran understands the fragility of life, and has compassion for others. There is no greater proponent of peace. A combat veteran is not afraid to act alone, or to coordinate with a team(s), and will not hesitate to do what the situation calls for. A combat veteran is patient, but decisive, and is ultimately the greatest defender of the innocent, and the greatest threat to a predator. A combat veteran is exactly who you want patrolling your streets.... If you have an honest, and lawful intent.
@mcgoon8027Ай бұрын
@@sgtbender1335 dang just type out the whole soldiers Creed why don’t you? A lot of what you typed out is exactly why a “combat Veteran” is a bad choice for a police officer. We don’t want officers reacting and an acting like soldiers. We don’t want soldier cops treating citizens like they are the enemy. The experiences a soldier has in combat does not automatically make them better at policing the streets of the United States, I believe it would be easy to find examples of why it actually is the opposite and causes them to overreact.
@sgtbender1335Ай бұрын
@mcgoon8027 That's because you don't actually understand what is required of cops these days. You have no idea how often a cop places his/her life on the line for you every day. The world has gone insane. If you ever patrolled the streets of your own city for a week you'd be trying to triple the force, and give them better gear and better pay by the weekend. You have no idea the amount of crime and violence that occurs in your city... If you did, you'd have a moving van out front right now. Basically, I understand your sentiment. However, you couldn't be more ignorant of the job, what it requires of an officer, or what skill sets allow an officer to do the job (safely and efficiently, and in an unbiased, empathetic manner). Additionally, you want an officer who will defend your rights under the Constitution, and defend you against illegal laws. A combat veteran is more likely to do that, because they understand the critical value of that line between citizens and the State, and are unafraid to face the enemies of freedom. Cops are people so they aren't perfect, but most try to be. A combat veteran has already learned many of the hard lessons that are the haunting mistakes of well intended veteran cops. Hiring a combat veteran is often like getting much of a veteran cop's skill and instincts in a rookie officer. They are usually the calm, patient, respectful ones, but turn into relentless hellhounds when faced with a threat, or seeing a citizen threatened. The best friend or worst enemy. Your choice.

This is just another way of saying you pay for a day pass ONCE and can use it all day - which is how the day pass always worked; and another way of saying you pay for the weekly or monthly pass once and can use it all week or all month, no matter how much you ride. Again, nothing new.
@1-among-many5 ай бұрын
But before, you had to choose to buy a daily pass _before_ you ride, and if you didn't ride enough to make it worth the value, too bad. Farecapping means you don't have to decide in advance; your card will just stop charging you once you hit the daily value.
