It's so funny that I stumbled across this video. Or maybe it makes perfect sense. I have been wanting to build a tube amp kit lately, but wanted to start simple. And I have always been a huge Rez Band fan since the very early 80's!! Glenn Kaiser is a legend, along with the whole band!

Wow, I just found out about this and think it's pretty awesome. I experienced the dreaded broken string syndrome with an old Ernie Ball volume pedal. After a few years of heavy therapy I was able to return to public life, but it was hard. I still cringe every time I see an Ernie Ball volume pedal....but now there is hope! Thanks for making this mod available!

This looks really cool, but it looks like there is a lot of crosstalk between the pitch and amplitude sensors - are they pointing different directions like the Altura or other means of keeping the 2 sensors independent?
@zeppelindesign Жыл бұрын
The light sensors are not pointing in different directions as in the Altura, but they are shielded from each other by being inset in a tube. If you get a light source right above the Noisette it will affect both sensors, but it's easy to control by partially covering one or both sensors. That being said, it can get pretty chaotic if you are indiscriminate about where you shine your flashlight, like in the video....but that's part of the fun!

Hello. Can I ask about how this mic is prone to feedback? Do you think this would be a good microphone to use for live shows guys? I´d like to get some vintage sound for vocals or maybe for a guitar for live shows.
@zeppelindesign Жыл бұрын
It depends on how loud the stage volume is. By it's nature, it is a rather microphonic microphone so if the stage/monitor volume is loud then you might have some trouble with feedback. I wouldn't try to use this type of mic on instruments, especially if you are worried about feedback. I suggest only using it on stage in a close mic configuration so you don't have to turn up the gain much, which could lead to feedback.

I own this pedal and it has some great features and tones. But, sorry if it sounds harsh, for me it's just one more "1000 possibilities" pedals wich i can't really use for gigging. It may be fun to play around with it. As long there are not at least 2-3 presets it's not practical on stage, or is everybody using just one trem sound the whole evening? And fiddling around during a gig ain't practical.
@zeppelindesign2 жыл бұрын
I agree, presets are very practical. I don't know if you are aware, but this pedal does have 6 user presets, but they are only available through midi control. I have one of these pedals on both my gigging pedal boards. I do have midi control on one of them, but I don't end up using any of the presets. I find the settings that sound good with the band and type of music that I'm playing and just leave them set for the whole gig. I just use the tap tempo on different songs. But I usually use tremolo as more of a subtle effect, and I understand that may not be the case for other guitarists.
@TheElrondo2 жыл бұрын
@@zeppelindesign Thank you for your response! I don't have a Midi rig. Just an old style pedal board. I'm into Rockabilly and Surf music, so tremolo is a "have to have" effect and often very prominent. To set that straight: Your pedal produces wonderful sounds! So for ppl like me it would be nice to have some presents besides Midi. As a trained Electro Technican i'm thinking off building in an Expression pedal jack to have direct control of the speed.
@TheElrondo2 жыл бұрын
@@zeppelindesign so this is my second response to you after a few weeks☺️ I didn't want to jump into the Midi thing, i quitted Midi 1985, beeing a keyboarder back then. So after thinking it over, i got me a Midi Controller just for the Quaverato. I love the sounds so much, it may be worth it. I hope i can figure it out to set up the system so i can use the presets. Is there a kind of manual somewhere how to set it up? If i manage that i maybe can also connect my Tape Echo pedal, wich also allows presets over Midi. Thank you in advance, greetings and happy holidays from Bavaria Germany 🇩🇪🌲

Why do you measure the resistance after installing the resistors instead of before?
@zeppelindesign2 жыл бұрын
The instructions say to measure before and after soldering them in place. There are some crucial resistor values in various places around the board, so that helps to eradicate mistakes with their placement. This video is supposed to be used in conjunction with the assembly manual so it skips over some details like that.

Could a 1/2 watt diy amp with a LM386 suffice to drive the 8" speaker?
@zeppelindesign2 жыл бұрын
The LM386 can drive most speakers. What matters to the amplifier is the impedance (the electrical load) of the speaker ...which is measured in ohms. The physical size of the speaker doesn't matter much to the amplifier. The LM386 can drive speakers with impedances anywhere from 4 ohms to 32 ohms. In this cabinet, the speaker has an 8 ohm load, so the LM386 could easily drive it.

I don't think it's possible to convert a shotgun mic into a contact mic...shotgun mics are a completely different type of technology than contact mics.

Is it possible to connect the pedal in both jacks, I mean have one cable in the output for use as a regular volume pedal and other cable on the other jack for use as an expression pedal? Interchange both functions.
@zeppelindesign2 жыл бұрын
Great question. No, it is either a volume pedal or an expression pedal. In either mode, with the stereo upgrade you have access to two output channels: two volume OR two expression. The two stereo channels either work together (such as when you want to split the signal down two chains, that go up and down together), or opposite (such as when you want to blend between two sounds). I hope this helps.
