You know why it's so expensive not because of labor not because of material because of taxes. You paid taxes when you bought the part. The company that shipped it to you had to pay some kind of tax on their employee their vehicles, the registration and then the company that made it has to pay taxes taxes on top of taxes on top of taxes.

I just went over this with a buddy. He's wanting to buy and build a classic Van. Even if we got an early 70s, G10 for $500. Like one we were just looking at in California. It owes the DMV $1060. For 2 years of tags. There's also transfer cost now. For a Van, that's only $500, including the tow for another 300. Because of fuel cost. It's $2000 before we even get to see if that motor is any good. It needs a carburetor don't have OnePlus the battery tires breaks typical fluids $4000 before we even get to see if that thing is road worthy or has a transmission problem. Or we can get a running and driving one. He can I mean for 5 ,000or 6000? Right now in the car market, it's better to spin a little more and get somebody's already finished vehicle.

Ran into that with a jeep I bought a few years ago. It had a nice body, newer engine and transmission but nothing else. A rolling shell with an engine and transmission. It was cheap enough you would think it was a steal. But the amount of money I spent in nuts and bolts putting it together and hoses and belts. I could have bought a daily driver cheaper.
