Hello Shelley, we agreed NOT to publish the list, all pets are different, and they do not all fall within the same range. Owners should gauge the changes themselves, they are the people most familiar with their pets. Loosing a pet is the hardest thing some of us will have to experience, be in touch with your vet, and surround yourselves with people you love.

My dog was spayed for a long time. I notice a lump in her nipple took her to the vet. Next thing surgery to remove and biopsy mass. Just two day after 8 days after surgery. It came back as breast cancer stage 3 supposedly aggressive!! I have been crying for two straight day. She is 9 years old, 8 pds yorkie mix & get her teeth clean ever 6 mths. I feed her rice and chicken or farm fresh food or royal Caine nothing with corn.. Is there a way of healing naturally. My mom died from pancreatic cancer and then went on remission for a whole year. I know how hash chemo was on her weak body. 1 year later it spread like wild fire. Please any advice?

I lost my dog of 14.5 last Saturday, that’s true he stopped doing things he always enjoyed doing for 14.5 years. My toughest thought is that yes he didn’t enjoy but what if the treatment can make him better to do those thing?!, what if the vet misdiagnosed him?? On Friday I went to a vet and he told me my dog had a DKA needs IV fluid sooner then sent me to ER, the ER vet said he would never go back to how he was, he will need inslins if he could recover from DKA, also other complications would make DKA comes back at any moment then u went to another ER they didnt do the bloodwork but they also said similar thing and found out he had hypertension! I most unsure part for me is that he was eating and playing. His toys 1 months ago, it’s too quick for him to be illness like that… also he didnt look like sick.. he was still smiling…

Thank you for sharing. Most dogs are hero dogs and they will push through the pain in ways that somehow makes it impossible for us to know just how much they are suffering. You've just had your heart ripped out of your chest, grieving may be putting all of those questions and doubts in front of your eyes. We did this video for that exact reason, loosing a pet is one of the hardest thing anyone will ever have to go through, there is no one way of doing it, we are all different, you have done your best with what you knew at the time. My dog is 15 she's an Aussie. She is very young at heart but she's lost her ability to "hold it". But she's so happy... She's messing up my carpets... We tried diapers and it wasn't good for her she got skin issues. We try to quarantine her but she is so spirited she wants to break out and she has dementia I think because she is impossible to train not to break out. She used to be so obedient. I know she's not ready because she is full of joy when she is the first to spot the mail man for our other dog to guard the house. I love my Storm girl. She's given me the best years I swear... She's the coolest dog in the world

My dog recently passed away a week ago or less. It was the weekend when the Rams were playing for Super Bowl. The signs that start showing was within 12 hours of him passing away. He was diagnosed with heart failure and collapse trachea. My dog was also older and had no history of anything because he was a homeless dog. Thank God his last hours weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. His stomach did descend and what the clue for me is when he stopped coughing. I knew the liquid was building up in his lungs. He started pacing because he needed air and also as it was a hot day. Thank God he did not sugar for too long but he’s just passed away in his bed.

My collie mix has large cell lymphoma. She's only 4 and a half. I've had her since she was 12 months old. Behavioural problems and all. I've been working with her to overcome her anxieties and reactive behaviour, but now it's coming to a close. I'm going with palliative care. This is the 2nd time I've been faced with making that decision to euthanise. My last dog was 11 and suffered from spondylolysis and lost her ability to walk. She was put to sleep a week later because her quality of life became zero. A difficult decision but the correct one. Took me months to get over her. Now with my collie mix, she's still able to walk around and eat and poo normally. Going for walks is out now because she gets tired really quickly and slows to a slow walk. So unfair for such a young dog. She spends her day just lying down, occasionally going outside to pee and stuff. I think I'm days away from calling in the vet to euthanise.

My 10yr beagle was diagnosed oct 2020 with CHF, he had a major cough. I called for a week straight for the vet to see him but because of Covid they would not so i ended up paying for emergency vet visit at another vet(500$) We could hear water when he coughed! When they took the xray, he would turn blue from suffocation. Under 5 min, they knew he was bad. Got an xray done upright, his right side of his heart is tripled its normal size pushing all his organs down and crushing his windpipe when laying sideways, lungs filled with water so they put him on Furosamine & vetmedin Asap! He pulled through and was good for a month and after it was 2-3days ok then sick 2-3days... Today and yesterday too, he is basically not eating, vomiting, diarhea, lethargic, white gums, cant even walk from kitchen to living room... I searched online and stop the vetmedin! 8hrs after he started eating and going outside to pee! I will call Vet first thing tomorow morning... to see whats our best option... maybe the best thing would be to let him go sleeping instead of living with a time bomb inside that is beating non stop not even letting him sleep ( its beating so bad that it shakes him) Its awful to see him that way😢 He's not playing, not barking, not even greeting ppl when they come, very not like him! He even dont want cuddles bc his belly is so swollen and painful, he only want to sleep. We knew he would die younger than other beagles bc he had a major heart murmur at 5yr. We dont have heart specialist for dogs here. I know that people want to keep their pets forever but as responsible pet owner, we need to put their pain first and then our grief... Its the last action we will ever do for them so we need to make it a good one and free them from their pain & suffering....

@@rescuediaries We went to the emergency vet and sadly we had to put our baby down today. He had a very bad all over the place arythmia, his heart would not relax at all. The vet said it was a 6 outta 6, on how much it was bad. We could feel his breathing on his belly like water pushing through a thin pipe. She estimated not even a week before he would have a major heart attack or his heart would just burst... He was still not eating or drinking water, everything came back up. He was tired and basically took 2-3 breaks to get inside the vet. His gums were white and his eyes was filled with tears. I told the vet to stop, the time had come. He was fighting for a big 2months with being sick 3days outta 4.... He fell asleep in my arms and died peacefully with me holding him. I did not cry in front of the vet staff out of respect bc it does affect them too! We were already prepared since he was first diagnosed with a major heart murmur at 5-6yrs. I just pray our other dogs that passed before him was there to greet him in puppy heaven!

There is a huge psychological component to all of this, especially if it is your first time, as it was for me yesterday. I did not expect her to die naturally but you have to be comfortable that you are not early and also that it is not too late. Maybe I was late as I have a shepherd with hip dyspepsia and at the end she needed daily injections of pain killer but there were other conditions as well. You have to do whatever you possible can to make the end of life experience as comfortable without being selfish and keeping her alive for your benefit only. I didn't think I knew but when my healthy eater lost her appetite that became the decision point. At that point I decided that I have to do what is right for her not me and we put her down. Of course I am devastated but I believe that was the right moment and I can live with my decision. I brought the vet came over to the house and she refused to put her down because I had doubts. It was 3 days later that she returned a 2nd time and we put her down. In summary, try to take selfishness out of the equation and make the decision that you think you pet would want. To be in excruciating pain at the end of the line sucks as much for your pet as it would for you. Just make the choices that your conscience can live with.

Yep that’s me I’m that type of person that peeks to see if there dog has peacefully passed away during their sleep but unfortunately in my dogs case he’s supposably shedding which is an abnormal thing for a miniature toy poodle he’s been around since I was small and he’s still going on to almost be about 15or 16 when I first got him he was actually the one who picked us as his owners we got him from my uncle Jessie who proudly bestowed upon my baby his sill old name Bentley Fresh Rodriguez but we’ve recently heard from our local veterinarian that Bentley might have kidney failure and I don’t know what I’d do without my baby boy 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I do that a lot with my dog. I'll look at her until I see her breathing or twitching in her sleep. I dread the day that I'll look over and won't see her moving.

How much does it cost to start it and get it set up? If it’s a nonprofit organization, how do you get paid? I really want to do this but I have no idea how it works

Emily. Thanks for that. Kara at Ralphy's retreat works 12 hours a day/7 days a week. She is one of the most knowledgeable person on pigs and on how to run a sanctuary of anyone I know. I suggest you get in touch with her, she can answer questions when she has a minute. One thing Kara says is always to start small. But don't take it from me, here is where you can reach Kara. If you are in Ontario, Ralphy's are always looking for good dependable volunteers as well. Volunteering might be another way for you to get your feet wet. Let me know if you have any questions. Gervais here is Ralphy's info: www.ralphysretreat.ca

This is exactly what I want for my little chihuahua who has terminal cancer. There is no hospice vet or homecare in my area. You are helping a lot of people and animals in a very difficult time. Thank you.

Thank you so much for this video, it was an honor and privilege to be able to care for this big guy at the OTCC. I can't tell you how much this made me rejoice and cry with happiness, being able to watch him return to his home. This is why all of our volunteers do what they do, for moments like this THANK YOU

I just saw my first snapping turtle this year, yesterday. :) Very majestic. After seeing the video it is hard to imagine she / he could be as old as 80! Fantastic. Thank goodness there are no cars to be found were I saw this beauty. :)

We help some many every year get across the road. You have to mind traffic though- not all drivers will slow down. The Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre has already surpassed by 100 the number of patients they had at the same time last year. thanks for your comment. Always nice to hear from you. Gervais
