Great idea. Marred with arrogantly ignorant presentation of anyone who stands anywhere to the right of socialist ideology. Unnngg.. I’d forgotten that. The book is still worth a listen. But you’d have to be an utter moron to accept the idea that people who hold different political views as yourself can only be evil.

as to the postman The idea that he would not have known or tried to learn how to read load his 38 shell. Even if he could not get anu\y smokeless power he should of known how to make just black powder or find abood to ell him these things. What he really needed to do is to find s house with all this in it with a reloading machine hand operated. So U see in that first gne after whatever happened there should of been a lot of ppl doing this. Bty there are many black power weapon made in modern times. I have 6 of them 2 pistols and 4 long guns. One a working model of the PA long rifle in 36 cal. So u see firearms would be around in quinty for more then just a few gens. David is a city boy who more then likely never fire a weapon in his life or he would of not made these mistakes. I am listening to this book to see how far away the movie got. As to fowling his 38. No big gig. It only fires 6 rounds before u need to reload so alll u do is clean it after every sue as u would any way

why is there commercials every five mins? none of the other audiobooks have commercials, [hellblazer's for instance]. it's unlistenable like this. I'm really asking; I guess I don't understand how youtube works. what's the difference with this one?

no commercial for me, weird algorithm I guess?

I've noticed that, on longer audiobooks, the early part has 3-5 annoying commercial breaks, then none for the rest of the tale. It's an algorithmic thing, I think.

It's a bit too long, could have been shorter/crisper. An interesting concept, but a little bit beats you over the head, like Heinlein does.

I am loving this story! a lot! I'm right at the part (spoiler) where the guy is pretending to be a postman and the Mayor is about to fire on him (2:45:12) - I'm sure this is supposed to be suspenseful - but dang am I laughing too! This is such a fun story! With an incredibly unique plot and stuff happening all the time! At the beginning it was hard to remember this was written in the 80's... now about 5.5 hours in it is evident - but still a good story. I really liked the beginning and middle - but not so much the ending... (spoiler) The beginning and middle felt like it was a struggle for self preservation and good over evil... but the ending was more war mentality - to me, anyway. Like one faction versus a different faction... I don't know how I feel about this book as a whole... it was OK, filled with action, suspense, drama, etc., maybe too much for me... I don't know why I was so disappointed in the ending... sigh. It just felt so long and full of turmoil - over 10 hours of constant violence, struggle, anxiety... maybe I was hoping for an uplifting, positive, hopeful ending... (spoiler) not an ending where everyone dies... sigh.

A great post-apocalyptic tale of hope, and a cringe-worthy pro-feminist, anti-Republican, anti-prepper subplot.

I was one of the few (like most of you) who liked this movie and this audiobook has hooked me and so far has been great. The main thing I didn't like about the movie is that Will Patton played kind of a paper one-dimensional villain who often spoke with cringy and unbelievable dialogue. The best scene was when the Sherif of Pine View was executed and cried out "Ride Postman Ride. Do you hear me?"

Does anyone know who this narrator is? The one that’s available through audible is not as good and I would like to know who narrated this audiobook. Edit : The narrator of this version is Dick Hill. This version is only available on CD or cassette.
