As a level 2 autistic human, undiagnosed during childhood, school was a nightmare, from kindergarten to high school. Even teachers used to bully me. Unfortunately my masking wasn't good enough.

That is sad. I was bullied and picked on at school too, for being quiet. Thankfully not by teachers.

Hi Julie, thank you for the videos. I'm also very sensitive with clothing and labels, the thicker labels also tend to stick out a bit more in addition to being more scratchy. some shirts i've bought have had 3 labels stuck there together and they want to fan out! i usually take labels out as standard these days, but i do have a lot of t-shirts with little holes instead now.
@julieday9517Ай бұрын
Yes, it is the thicker labels that cause the problems. And multiple ones. What about ones with buttons on?

Diagnosed at 65. Surprise !! This is why I suck with people ! This is why……. EVERYTHING !!
@julieday9517Ай бұрын
Hello. I am sorry you feel that way. Please don't put yourself down. You are probably good at something. Just find that one thing and focus. Like I do with my writing. If you want inspiration, then try reading my memoir 'Endocarditis - My Journey' which is available as an ebook via my website and on all digital platforms. I was diagnosed at 40, and by that time I had gone through school and work. Now I focus on writing and helping others with autism inc children.

Thank you for this, Julie. I have the same memory of trying to find my own style of handwriting. I tried copying Mum’s then Dad’s then a particular teacher’s at school. I’d totally forgotten until you mentioned it. Please continue to make more videos about Autistic Masking. Thank you.

Thank you for commenting. I am glad it resonates with you as it means my work is reaching the right people. I have ideas for a couple more videos about masking as well as blog posts.

I hated reading out loud in class and had exactly the same thing about shaking, heart beating, etc. Nobody to read it out for me either as nobody understood about autism in 60s and 70s. Nor even about the crippling anxiety. It dawned on me some years ago in my long writing career that this is maybe one reason why I write - compensatory for not being able to speak! Yet like me you're more at home doing videos. For me this is because I am in control and may do several takes so they're never live. I didn't even do one of these until two years ago at the age of 63 (after diagbosis!)

This is great Julie. I can recommend this for my therapist friends.

That would be great. My goal for my videos and books is to reach out to the autistic community and those who help them.

Great video @Julie. I was pretty bad at maths although I got CSE grade 2. I needed statistics for psychology but was better with statistics!

Thanks, Debbie. One of the reasons I did this video, as I know lots of people don't know about Asperger's. Check out the rest of my Aspie videos.

Gosh, that is so interesting and insightful, Julie, I know very little about Aspergers, which doesn't get talked about very much, but I really think it should be, so that we who don't have it can relate better to those who do. Thank you for sharing your experience here.

Hello, Kyle. Thank you for commenting on my latest video. My passion is writing, I am an author of ebooks. I have liked writing since I was a child but didn't take it up seriously until 2001. Julie
