When riding alone or with people in the front seat only (my most common riding) I don't feel the need for one. When I have the back loaded up, I can feel some swaying. Not sure that I am gong to do a pan hard bar or totally rework the suspension. I may just leave it b/c having people on the back isn't that common for me.

Wild question. I'm thinking of going with the Vivair 485c Gen2 because it is 100% duty at 200 psi and a 3 gallon tank. Already have these same Monroe shocks. Do you think with that set up I would blow one of these shocks out?
@aberk20
@aberk20 5 ай бұрын
It will definitely be possible since the bags are rated at 150PSI, but if you have gauges for the bags, then I wouldn't worry about it. Mine rides around 70-80PSI in the rear, so once I see that on the gauge I stop airing up. I don't think I have ever had more than 120PSI in my rears and that was to prevent sagging with a couple of heavy friends on the back.

Do you have a noticeable acceleration delay with this setup? I have a 52v EcoBattery paired with the Navitas 5kw AC kit on an EZGO TXT and have been trying to figure out how to get better throttle response. From a dead stop, there's over half a second of wait time before the front end violently launches into the air, and a similar delay when waiting for the regen to kick on. I'm been in touch with Navitas Tech Support for a few weeks, but they haven't been able to pinpoint the cause. Do you experience this with your cart?
@aberk20
@aberk20 8 ай бұрын
Now that you mention it, I do notice a delay when a stab the throttle. I don't usually go around driving like that so I never thought much of it. My only grip about regen is that it always seems on or off. I don't feel like it scales with the OTF knob.
@travisshirley1951
@travisshirley1951 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I have been having a similar issue with the regen. Navitas tech support recently configured my controller for "velocity mode" which seems to allows the regen to respond more linearly with the pedal position, but the pedal delay still makes the regen apply more aggressively than intended most of the time. I can't believe I'm the only person complaining about it, as it's really unsatisfying to use. It's really a shame, as I actually love the configurability and outright power of the system, but the controller seems to go out of its way to make it feel more unwieldy than it should. @@aberk20

May be a strange question, but how do those switches dump? Been using your build for my plans, stuck between the manual switches or solenoids. Your way seems easier and more cost effective, just don't get how they dump.
@aberk20
@aberk20 11 ай бұрын
I went back and forth on this too. I had a nice digital air suspension system on my Dodge Magnum years ago. It really boiled down to the fact that I didn't want to spend 1k+(I was looking at nice digital setups) for a golf cart and these switches take up less space than manifold+solenoids. On the back of the switches are 2 barbed fittings. The air inlet from the tank and outlet to the bag. IIRC, there is a small port on the switch that is the dump port, so they essentially dump right at the switch behind the dash. There is no routing the dump side anywhere else. In my Magnum, the manifold was in the car and ran the dump lines to the outside which made it quieter in the car and attention grabbing outside the car.

@@aberk20 I am toying with the idea of building a metal plate over the top of the steering rack and mounting a single air bag like on the rear of a truck to lift and lower. I'll do the leaf spring mod you did as well. I'll have to build a plate off of the top frame (where the top shock mounts are. My thought was the single bag would ride softer. @deanlacombe5006 i have seen that done too. I'm not the best at metal fab so I kept it simple. I think you're OK to do that in the front, but the rear really benefitted from having separate bags and air control. Even those bags are designed for heavier duty use, so you may get the same results.

In my later videos I talk about my switch to 4 way control of the bags to combat body roll. This is the block I used. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07WFT2SY9/ The reviews about leaks are very accurate. I found that fittings that come with a sealant applied work OK, but no amount of air fitting tape would save me on fittings with bare threads. I ended up putting an o-ring in the base before screwing on the larger fittings and the compression of the fitting onto the o-ring made a better seal.
